Where is the NFL in all this?
Are they only image-conscious when it comes to their players. Reading several neutral message boards, it's apparent that the majority of people think that the Titans are acting like crybabies here, and engaging in a PR stunt to appease their fans.
I propose this slogan:
The No Fun League, where thugs are banned, but bullies are welcome.
We'll see how much they like it when every future coaching change becomes potential billable hours for the attorneys.
FROM THE DESK OF RALPH VON ALBERTSON, ESQ.:
Well, Trojans, it seems that Young Master Kiffin is becoming, quite literally, a liability. Nonetheless, you should count yourselves fortunate that the people of Tennessee have become sufficiently civilized to seek recompense in the court system, rather than by their time-honored method of "blood feuds".
Not very long ago, if USC had stolen a coach from a team in the state of Tennessee, a "war party" would have been sent to steal a USC coach in return -- or even Kiffin's lovely wife. You should be glad that there have not been any angry Tennesseans sneaking onto USC's campus under cover of darkness, looking for livestock to steal, barns to set ablaze, or whiskey stills to smash.
As recently as 1991, a feud broke out between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Crimson Tide of Alabama, and a Tennessee "war party" was sent to get revenge. Cleverly, Alabama's coach Gene Stallings ordered his team to dig a large pit and cover it with branches and leaves. When the war party approached and fell into the pit, the Alabama players hurled rabid raccoons down upon the Tennesseans, then laughed at their screams.
Ah, now THAT was SEC football at its best.
Best regards,

Who is technically on watch here, Mike Garrett or Pat Haden, errrrrrrrrrrr JK McKay when this Kenedy Pola matter arose? Isn't the administration involved when a coach is hired?
I hope that McKay will oversees the football program in the same way a General Manager does in the NFL. Coach Kiffin will be limited to the Xs & 0s, game prep, and recruiting. Off the field decisions of consequence - hiring of assistants, going after questionable recruits, etc. - and a lot of the program direction/management decisions that Carroll made should now fall to McKay.
McKay does not have experience in a college athletic department, his experience is in the pro front office. This is why I expect him to run this new position that has been created for him like a GM. I don't belieive that he's being brought in to be Kiffin's mouthpiece for the press and stableboy for cleaning up Kiffin's mistakes.
Carroll use to say that he liked having so much more control over his program in college than the NFL. This is about to change at USC. I don't see McKay being be an Al Davis, but the real question is how much will Kiffin fight being on a short leash.
The story here is not whether the titans will prevail in their suit against SUC and Lame. The story is really on 2 fronts: First, in light of the near death blow dealt to SUC by the NCAA, you would think that Lame would have been very cautious in poaching Pola from the Titans. It is indicative of Lame's arrogance and self-centered approach to everthing he has had his hands on. Second, where was Pat "Shorty" Haden in all of this? Just prior to Lame making this mess, a grand announcement was made that "No Control" Garrett was out and Shorty -- Mr. Ethics and Integrity -- was in! So, what? Lame did not run this past Shorty? Or, he did and Shorty approved? Either way, you guys deserve each other! Suc (sic) in se malum est!
Better yet, Haden said "no comment". what would all you be saying if Garrett had said that. BTW, Garrett hasn't been in the office since the announcement, to The Capper is running the show.
Its kind of silly for SW to post his own article and label it "more details." There are better details and some thoughtful analysis here:

Plaschke and his usual hyperbole chime in here:

Both better reads than the Wolfsh**.
