No One Cares About The Bowl Ban

| | Comments (26) |

Like we said before, the players who are thinking of transferring are those who do not play or play little. The idea that a bowl ban bothers the players is almost irrelevant. None of these guys are leaving because of that. They are leaving because they do not have to sit out a year.

This is primarily true with the notable exception of DJ. He would of played and been a big factor, particularly next year. We are losing valuable depth and it is very concerning! Hopefully we will not lose too many more players. I do think this will be a great statement for Lane if he can pull through the sanctions with top ten teams. Time will soon tell. I do think we have the right coach and am very happy he is here!

Thanks for clearing that up for the many trolls on this board. They don't seem to understand such a concept.

They all care about the Bowl ban. There is just not much they can do about it. They would love to be palying for a BCS bowl game thjis and next year. FOr the starters, there is too much effort to go somewhere else. For the resrves, it is new life that is usually not available. I hope they do well. Of course, what happens if a starter does leave, then we open up a new thread and a new spin.

Brother Wolf, listen to the Rev. W.E.B. Dupree! Beat reporting corrupts, and beat reporting on the Trojans will leave you corrupt as a Trojan! Put down the Kool-Aid, and take a sip of the blood of the lamb! Brother Shoemate has seen the light and gotten right with the Lord, and so must you!

BREAKING NEWS: UCLA gets a bowl ban too! Oops, that's not news. We already knew the bRuins couldn't play in bowl games (because they suck).

In the past it wouldn't have been relevant because USC was able to replace the player quickly and give the scholarship to another eager 5*.

Now, it appears that it will be a perfect opportunity now for the "average joe" USC student to walk on the football team because they're not going to have enough bodies even for practice.

LAWYER JOHN Author Profile Page said:

Come on, I concede the fact, losing 30 SC scholarships is a huge, huge blow. The main concern is that it reduces the "mistakes" that can be made regarding whether a high schooler can become a college footballer. There are mistakes made every year, judging talent is not a science but an art. SC does not have the luxury of making many talent mistakes.

That said, SC does attract the best of the best, so if any college outside of Florida, Alabama, Ohio State and a few others has a chance to make it through this nightmare it is the Trojans.

By the way, don't the pros have a roster of 53, as opposed to the colleges' 85 (and now SC with 75)? So there is even less margin for error in the pros.

What has been lost in all of this over-reaction by the NCAA to hurt, really hurt, one of the United States' marquee teams is the damage it will instill on college football. Does anybody east of the Mississippi care about any west teams other than USC?-- Well, perhaps Boise State with its incredible run, but after that who in New York City can name any of the nicknames of ucla, Oregon State or Washington?

And so there will be a loss of important television revenue for all the Pac-10 teams because of SC's banishment (including possible lucrative SC BCS bowl money). In these hard times, bound to become harder, perhaps the subway alumni doesn't care, but the rank and file of universities in the Pac-10 will feel the financial pinch. And as in all matters concerning lack of money, it will be most unpleasant if not intolerable

I wouldn't lay any money down with Neuheisel's bookie on there being a ton of Clay Matthews ready to walk on - so the scholarship loss is huge.

But as long as the Notre Dame game happens every year we'll draw more viewers than any bowl ucla will get invited to.

You know what's funny about all these bRRUIN trolls?

UCLA has pretty much suffered through a self-imposed football bowl ban for about a decade now.

Hey Lawyer John, why do you even bother trying to explain it to these Trolls? They only hear what they want to hear.

And do them a favor and try not to sound so sophisticated. Bring it down to 3rd grade level so that they can have a better understanding of what you are talking about. (PAC-10 minus USC = bad for everyone).

nOMG!!! the trOJies are in such deeply entrenched denial, it could take years to pry them out!!

"oh yeah, we don't care about Bowls! who needs 'em??"

"all those players who ran out on us?? bums! the lot of 'em!! they wouldn't even have played!"

"Seantrell? high-maintenance loser!!"

oh you poor trOJIes, not even when the Bruins beat you saps 7 years in a row, were you ever so low down in the dumps...what university has ever crashed and burned with such velocity??

some ask me how i can so enjoy watching the smoking crater that was SOuthern Cal athletics. in response i ask them: how can it be wrong, when it feels soooooo RIGHT??

And with that, Old School wins the day.

Crash and burn? LOL! So bright you Trolls...

Just answer this "Count" Dumbass. What will you say when SC wins more games than UCLA next year? What will you consider the Bruins season/program? Please answer these questions now, because I know you will be nowhere to be found once the season is over. We all know how "loyal" you Bruins are....

listen Mother of ChuckBuck, you have CROSSED THE LINE!!

wolfie made it clear vis-a-vis his "final warning" dated June 15, 2010 10:46 AM: "If you use profanity, you will be banned from this blog."

you should be ashamed. your son was one of the most beloved denizens of this blog and he never once uttered a profane word. but you seem to spew them like a drunken sailor.

i will accept your apology in the spirit it is intended. or i have no choice but to inform wolfie and inasmuch as he is a man of his word, you will be banned, madam.

'Ruin fans get so excited...and yet they STILL can't fill the Rose Bowl for a normal game....SC could be on probation for a decade and your football program still won't draw a blip on the radar....

they are leaving because they have standards that won't let them accept anything less than a program of the highest integrity

Hey, Masoli and Holland are looking for a team???

ReelBruin2 Author Profile Page said:

Reason is irrelevant. The problem is you guys can't replace the scholie players.

I noticed that Rick did not kick the three purse thieves permanently off the team. Merely suspended until Jan. when I guess he thinks the press will have forgotten about it. Probably not one of his better decisions and he missed an opportunity to set a proper example. Not sure any of these coaches will have the nerve to set an example given how hard it is to be competitive these days. We'll have to wait and see how the purse thieves pan out over time.

So let me get this straight, it's "A Trojan for Life - unless you don't have to sit out", or as DJ Shoemate said, "I'm a Trojan for life - but this is business".

I guess it makes sense for OJ that he's a "Trojan for Life"...imprisonment, that is.

Wellie wellie wellie, another droogie has left the program?

Shomite has lost his LA pass! What these players don't get is that they will be better by competing against the best in practice rather than trying to start at another lower notch school. Oh well.

Another scholarship spot is open! On to the next four star....

Transfers come and go. BTW, any word on Aaron Corp's stats at Richmond. Will he light up the Colonial Athletic Association?

TMart24 Author Profile Page said:

Those who have transferred out may not have been seriously influenced by the bowl ban, but the current recruiting class obviously may be. The appeal ruling is unlikely to happen before LOI day. Top skill players, like DeAnthony Thomas, may want to go somewhere that can compete for a BCS Championship.

Hunchbeek97 Author Profile Page said:

I can understand some of the current players transferring because of playing time, but losing Henderson and Glen Stanley are directly related to the sanctions and have nothing to do with not wanting to play or play little.
