It will be interesting to see where the media representatives place the Trojans. I would suspect no lower than third despite whatever uncertainties we face.

Consider that Oregon --last years overrated media darling-- has been exposed as a repository for criminal elements and has imploded. Stanford was a one-trick pony and its stallion Gerhart bolted the corral for the NFL. This should expose bigmouth Harbaugh for what he is: the Tedford of the Palo Alto. Oregon is a big maybe and the fall off from there is appreciable. Despite changes in leadership and the crooks in the NCAA, we're lookin pretty damn good Trojans. Fight on!

Wow, you really have them moving up in the world Mrs. Bucket. Maybe the trolls around here are right and Neuweasel is bringing the bRuins back to prominence. At this rate, in a few years they might be up to number six. Let the chants begin.

It's like this Mr. Free Thinker. I will not insult, nor feed the fellow Trolls around here the crock of B.S. that Ratheisal has fed them. I, unlike Ratheisal, do not think the Trolls are stupid. Nor dumb. Nor uneducated. Did I mention clueless?

Just like how the Trolls have shown SC the light and what it's like to have an upstanding coach that plays by all the rules... I too will do the same.

OR, OSU & USC have the best chance of finishing at the top of the standings. OR finished 8-1 last year losing only to SU. OR lost a great QB and a great TE but not much else. OR have some issues to work in the DB but they have one of the P10’s most talented rosters. OR should be favored to win the conference.

AZ (6-3 last year), OSU (6-3), SU (6-3), USC (5-4) & Cal (5-4) all finished in the upper half of the standings. Oregon State also lost their QB but OSU return a boatload of starters on both sides of the ball. OSU played their archrival for the Rose Bowl bid last year & OSU should be able to challenge OR for the top spot again this year.

USC return about 1/2 their starters and even with a limited number of defections since the sanctions were announced have the most talented roster in the conference. Most of the coaches are new but the system will be the same & the current staff look better than last year’s staff.

AZ return a lot of players on offense & would be in that 1st group but AZ have to reload on defense without the depth that some of the other programs have. More importantly AZ lost their OC & DC and Stoops will be relying on 2 OCs & 2 DCs. That sounds like trouble.

So AZ ought to finish in the next group with SU, Cal, UCLA (3-6), WA (4-5) & ASU (2-7).
Washington State (0-9) will again be hard pressed to finish higher than last place.

NDLarry - you must have been drinking with the ND players before you posted this. Bad enough that you picked USC to finish 7th but UCLA 3rd? Wow.

FROM THE DESK OF RALPH VON ALBERTSON, ESQ.

As a Stanford man, I am gratified to see that at least two of you gentlemen have correctly placed Stanford atop your Pac-10 rankings. Congratulations, malachi crunch and NDLarry. (And I do hope that NDLarry's "ND" refers to the dull but generally wholesome state of North Dakota, rather than to a certain bastion of the papacy, so recently coached by a fat-fingered slug with a crew cut).

As for where USC or UCLA belong amongst the rest of the Pac-10 in these rankings, I care not. One might as well attempt to rank Chili's, TGI Friday's, and Applebee's -- I pity the poor soul who has earned the knowledge to undertake that task! Not since Dante Alighieri journeyed through the Inferno has someone descended through such a harrowing spiral of punishment and nightmare!

Best regards,

Ralph Von Albertson, Esq.

I think we will have to refer to you as the "Boring Baron". It is clear that Stanford will do well; however, with their star running back gone and no one at his caliber to take his place, along with switching to a dangerous 3-4 defense (dangerous at the college level as elusive running backs have more opportunities) leaves Stanford as a question mark. It will be very interesting to see how they turn out.
