Still Waiting

In fairness to Carroll, he has answered a lot of questions to the media regarding USC and the results of the NCAA investigation. Anybody who has been following the story already understands his position. This does not stop every reporter he encounters from asking loaded questions, hoping to bait him into an embarrassing exchange. Journalists are very self-serving, and never fail to exploit an opportunity for attention. At some point, people like Carroll must shake off the fleas or keep getting bit. It's amazing how entitled journals feel, and how petty they can be when their self-serving agenda is thwarted.

And Scott, in a free society, do you really believe anyone should have answer any question that they deem inappropriate?

The scoop BS from the glue-sniffer is tired and false. Everyone who reads this blog knows fully well that Scott Wolf produces no scoops. If you want a scoop, go read today's times and get an inside look at Heritage Hall. Wolf is an embittered reporter at a dying paper and gets the table scraps the big dogs leave behind.

Wolf's efforts to belittle Pete Carroll and the Trojan program are less about covering news than they are about some warped agenda Wolf has because he was apparently snubbed or feels injured by PC.

After reading his lame story on how supposedly miffed Jeff Fisher is at Lane Kiffin, I can see why Wolf has no friends at USC. While the real paper downtown gets one-on-one access to the new AD, Wolf responds by serving as Fisher's tool to throw flaming arrows at the new Haden regime.

Instead of asking critical questions that an intelligent journalist might ask --"Why is Fisher airing laundry in the press? How professional is Fisher's approach? Is Fisher trying to get Lane Kiffin fired so he can sweep into HH?"-- Wolf becomes an inept Iago and plays his stupid power card taking SC to task in the press.

Nice move Wolf. The Times gives Haden a glowing review on page one sports while you throw a flaming arrow. If Fisher gets the SC job, you may actually get a scoop one day. For now, you have made your name mud at Heritage Hall once again.

Talk about a talent for offending.

I read a lot of sources and Wolf is hardly my idea of accomplished. If he is so accomplished, why does he toil as a blogger at the DN instead of crafting witticisms for SI, LAT, NYT, ESPN or one of the major networks, or even as a regular columnist for his own dying masthead. The question answers itself.

Any longtime reader would find it hard to disagree that I am not far from the mark.

I do not see Reggie doing anything honorable. Neither he nor his step-father has ever even apologized. If he cared at all about doing what is right he would not only return the Heisman trophy, he would pay USC for any and all lost revenue caused by missing the two bowl games (and yes we are talking millions, especially with the loss of the TV revenue). I just can't see him giving up a dime, returning anything or ever even saying the right thing.

The one thing I don’t understand and will never understand is why Pete, Matt and all of his other teammates are not holding him accountable. They all seem to excuse him as if he did not know what his step-father and mother were up to. There is a story there and it would be a real interesting read if someone could get it.

While Charlie Bucket and Captain C. are busy patting themselves on their backs for their knowledge of Famous Disgraced Republicans of Yesteryear, I should point out that the man's name was SPIRO Agnew, not "Sprio," as Captain C. spelled it.

I suppose that was just an innocent typo on Captain C.'s part (like many people who post on this blog, he was probably focused on name-calling rather than spelling), but I don't want any of the younger readers to be misled.
