Can't respect someone who can't spell his own last name correctly.

The Donkey asks Scott if he knew Haden selected Lane as the next coach.

The Donkey knows Garrett did not have a role in selecting the new football coach. The Donkey wrote on this blog that Pat Haden would be the next AD, that Garrett would "retire" in the summer and Haden would step into the role.

The Donkey says that's why the sudden departure from Knoxville by Lane. Lane is not dumb. He would have never left TN for a lame duck AD (everybody knew Garrett's day where numbered).

ah, Sam Gilbert the racist is back. Please, no more mocking African-American football players just because they chose not to attend USC.

Ah, Sped the broad-brush accuser is back. Please, no more calling people racists just because they misspelled a long, foreign name. Spare me.

Brother spedjones, I know you're just jokin' when you say Sam Gilbert is racist. Some people on here take you serious, but I can see you're just bein' sarcastical.

Brother Sam Gilbert, I know you're not racist, either. That's why I'm inviting both of you down to the Normandie Lord of Zion church for our Sunday afternoon service and fish-fry, so can we can all pray togeter that Brother Haden can guide USC back to Jesus (but not Touchdown Jesus!).

Matter of fact, I invite all of you to come on down and get right with the Lord. I'm even inviting you, "I Dig Go Go Girls". You especially need some church.

What, does Gregg (whoever the heck he is) want Mother Theresa to replace LK as coach, who then would travel to Vienna to recruit the Choir Boys??? Mother would be perfect for him since she is now in the heavenly realm.

In the meantime, I suggest that in the spirit of reconciliation, spedjones take up W.E.B. Dupree's offer.

Spedjones, with the frequency of your posts, I hope that for your sake that the president's effort to extend unemployment benefits is successful.

careful, radioman, we all know Sam Gilbert hates talking about African Americans, particularly those who don't go to SC. Cheat ON!

Since the subject, off topic as usual, has been broached, allow me to put my 2-cents worth in or perhaps it is only worth 1-cent, about racism and how it relates to the current topic of one Mel Gibson. Now, I don't hang with him and I basically don't give a hang about the guy or any other "celebrity," but his situation illustrates how hypocritcal and nasty humankind can be.

The guy is guilty of a loose tongue, but he is not any more of a racist than any other earthling. Ask Danny Glover, his partner in the franchise movies they made together. Whoopi knows the guy and said he is not a racist. He is an Austalian, and if you have ever been in that country, you know the people are top-notch.

Now, that said, I will say that everybody is a racist, although it is a matter of degree. For example, why do people of the same color almost always marry each other? Or why on a construction site or in a prison do the Hispanics, Whites and Blacks hang with each other?

In part, it is because birds of a feather stick together-- we socialize with those who we feel comfortable with and who share our history and values. But it also has an ugly element of people thinking they are above persons who are different from them. Perhaps one day we will all rise above this primitive state, but that day is not today.

And with that, I shall now step down from my soapbox and re-enter the real world
