Four schools in the top 13? Not bad. Not bad at all.
And ALL of those school's sports writers finished ahead of Scotty.
UCLA still way better despite all of SC's cheating. Better education, better athletics, better location yet still SC charged what, $50k a year in tuition? Sanction ON!
oh so sugar sweeeeeeeeet!!!!
Confrence of Champions.....thank goodness for collegiate dwarf tossing, bull milking, shuffle boad & lawn darts so UCLA could win at something....
Better academics? Depends on what program you're talking about. I'm sure you don't mean to include architecture, cinema, and engineering, e.g.
Better athletics? Depends on what program you're talking about. Certainly not the biggest college sport there is. Who would have won the (Lexus) Gauntlet this year? Which school won more national titles this academic year (while fielding fewer teams)?
Better location? If you want the antiseptic experience, sure, head on to Westwood. If you're interested in an urban environment and the opportunities it brings, come on downtown. Can't wait until the Expo Line starts running.
Tuition is $41k, and given USC's generous financial aid packages, studens graduate with an average debt of only $30k. (Citation: http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=3341&profileId=2)
In case you hadn't noticed, USC is no longer in the 1980s.
sped, and you forgot less major crimes.
Sped, interesting point about the tuition. Odd, isn't it, that so many would rather pay big money at SC instead of going to UCLA. Guess the academics, sports, location, and lower costs still aren't enough to keep UCLA on top /:
I'll assume you understand.
Hey! 4th place again amongst the Pac-10, just like last year's Emerald Bowl champs! You guys sure know your place...
actually Scott is No. 1 Nobs....deal with it...
UCLA is undoubtedly better..... at purse stealing.
UCLA...better academics?......LOL!! HA,HA,HA,HA!
Social Work, Restaurant Management, Hotel/Motel Cleaning Services, Criminal Mug Shot Photography Technician, Interpertive Dance Theroy of Ancient Civilizations....that's the best you are gonna do with a degree(ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,snicker, snicker, snciker, chuckle, chuckl)from UCLA. One would be MUCH better off getting a real degree from University of Phoenix, Cal State Fullerton, Chapman or UC Irvine than UCLA. Really. How embarrassing to have to go to UCLA because you can get into school there so easily and a standard financial aid package pays all your tuition, room & board and there's still $12.92 left over so you can take your date out for a meal at Taco Bell (where you can see all your UCLA alum pals taking your order).
Awww...datrout seems a little bitter. Might have to call you dapout from now on.
Cheat on!
datrout - oh the irony! Based on your spelling prowess and weak content, I'd say you're an English major @ Cheat On U. Too funny!
Hey $UC - how's the view from down there?
Dwarf tossing...shuffle board?
Thats the best you can do?
Those grapes keep getting sour dont they?
Just for fun to all you poor, worthless UCLA basturds, is there a website talking about UCLA athletics? Does one even exist? I realize that the content value of such a site would really have nothing to discuss in the major sports for the last couple of years (with the exception of your gallant losing baseball team (I can still see the tears streaming down their little faces and your first baseman angrily smashing his fist against the bench - than fade to the next shot with his hand in a bandage - priceless),since your football program has been meaningless for the last 12 years, basketball is now a joke etc. Oh, that right, woman's softball. Now there is something to be proud of. Just remember last fall, I still can see Barkely's pass flying over your secondary while your coach couldn't figure out how to take a time out. God that was beautiful. 28-7 UCLA loses again. Lose on Bruins.
LOL at the SC wonks here. True story - I applied to 4 schools: UCLA, USC, UCI and UCSB. Got into all of them, but what was funny was that my acceptance from USC came, no joke, within 2 weeks of me submitting my application in November. It was nice to have a safety school, but there was no celebrating until the UCLA letter came several months later.
Sped, once they saw you had no criminal record - it was a no-brainer. Fig Tech needs clean rap sheets.
Since spedjones has graced us with a true story, I will add a true confession of my own. I attended both schools -- college at USC, grad school at UCLA.
As someone who grew up outside California before moving here to attend USC, the intense rivalry between USC and UCLA has always seemed a little odd to me. Two large, diverse universities in the same city with similar student bodies, similar programs, and even similar architecture on their campuses.
In my experience, to the extent there is an "average student" at either school, that average student is largely the same -- a white or Asian kid from a California suburb.
The athletic rivalry I have no problem with -- that's all for fun. But this bashing of each school's academics is just silly. And UCLA fans generally have a very out-dated notion of who actually attends USC.
Now that I've made my confession, you can all go back to hurling nonsense at each other.
HA!
Nice, Sped. Here's another true story:
I applied to eight schools. Cornell, Brown, Columbia, Hopkins, USC, ASU, Tufts, and Sarah Lawrence.
I did NOT get into Cornell. I did NOT apply to UCLA. I heard from SC last, after I'd already payed a deposit at Columbia. I changed my mind, drove west.
I should mention, though, that I went through the tv/film program. I'm not at all trying to claim SC is superior to the likes of Hopkins and Columbia (except in my field... and obviously in sports), and I'm also not really trying to bash UCLA. I think you guys have a good thing over there.
Obviously, ASU was my safety school. Obviously UCI and UCSB were yours. Nonetheless, congrats on getting a good education.
SC was my safety school back in the day too, but it has evolved. Just like UCLA has evolved into a pack of dorks.
dork on!!!
I know that hipster fashion makes things confusing, but let me repeat it again for the UCLA fans: We're not in the 1980s anymore.
Hey Jon,
Doesn't USC finishing 4th prove that you're not in the 1980's anymore? OTOH, USC was on probation in the '80's too, so back-to-the-future you go!
Sanction On!
You have to realize that the 'ruins gathered their most points in woman's softball and gymnastics which the Trojans do not compete in for this cup. Compare results for the Gauntlet which USC won handily this past athletic year winning easily in football, twice in basketball for the men and split on the woman's side, swept Track and Field big time at Westwood only losing baseball badly.
Maybe you guys can hang the Water Polo jerseys up in the Coliseum this year...
