True. I used to check this site out first, now it's maybe 4th.
Is Prater really 4th on the depth chart, or is that a result of him being hurt?
Also, I'd like to see them give the transfer/walk-on from San Diego a try at punter. His numbers in high school and college were exceptional. And punter is one of the only positions that translates well across all levels since you're just looking at numbers.
Some random thoughts:
Kennard starts at MLB. Galippo is in the supersub LB role. LB is a solid unit with little depth.
Baxter was left off of this depth chart. Will he be ahead of C.J. Gable? Bradford?
USC starts freshman Woods and Robey at the critical 2nd WR/CB positions.
Would-be starters Blake Ayles and Brice Butler fell to to 3rd string.
Mustain is the best back-up QB in the country; not that we'll get the chance to find out (while Barkley is healthy anyway).
This team will only go as far as the O-Line can last.
It is interesting to note the Kiffins' thinking as they want to give experience to two Freshman that they see as the most talented in their respective positions (Woods and Robey) knowing that they will make key mistakes due to inexperience and lack of time in our system. They clearly have decided that the first half of the schedule is easy enough to afford these mistakes and that they want them ready for the second half when the going will get tough. I think it is a wise decision, but we shall soon see!
The lack of seniors portends well for next year. Health will be the main issue for the team this year.

Scoop on the offense; LG Lewis, LT Kalil and C O'Dowd will do fine. I have never liked RT Smith, he looks awkward to me. I would rather see Graf starting at RT with Coleman moving over to 2nd LT. RG Holmes an unknown who must overcome a severe neck stinger. Is Reardon a quality RG backup ? My goodness, what a mess at TE. Ellison could'nt hold onto the ball or block last year and Ayles, a Junior, has been big time disappointment. QB Barkley has yet to show he can perform effectively in the 2nd half. He has a knack for throwing interceptions in the fourth quarter when he should be at his best. I like our chances better with Mustain running the offense. FB Havili may be finished. It is rare that a fullback can continue with a severly separated shoulder that will not stay in place.
The upside; the offensive lineman mentioned above, a neat stable of TBs, and the BIG QUESTION; one player who can make or break the offense, WR Woods. Ausberry has always looked uncomfortable on the field to me.
Prediction: Just like last year, good defenses will stack the box with 8 defenders and dare Barkley to beat them. Double team WR Johnson and we be shut down unless Woods can get it done in a big way. And the SECOND BIG QUESTION; will Coach Hillin's play calling continue to stay one play behind the opponent's defenses. If so, Yuck !!
Scoop on the defense; Defensive line one of the best in the country, experience, deep, with fantastic DL coach. LB's will shine with a great line in front of them. Why not Gallipo at SLB ? He stunk at MLB last year. Maybe Cumming can play 2nd MLB. Michael Morgan has great speed but can't shed blockers. Maybe move him to FS to back up T. J. McDonald ? WLB Smith should make First Team All-American. BIG QUESTION; Nick Robey and T. J. Bryant. Not sold on the freshman. If T. J. can find his game and play a great corner, our fine DB coaches will find a way to seal the deal. CB Wright is a keeper. Lots of talent at SS.
Prediction; Stay healthy, believe in your coaches and each other, and reign as the best defense in the PAC-10.
