More Sample

USC's new student union officially opens this month and one building is called Steven and Kathryn Sample Hall. I thought that horse statue Sample donated was enough but now his name has to be on a building. Maybe if he fired Mike Garrett he would deserve it.

How could you possibly deny what Pres. Sample has done for this university. Are you really that contrarian Wolf? You rarely provide "inside USC" scoops and and you certainly don't provide insightful, well researched journalism. How is it that YOU are so deserving again?

Wow, Wolf I thought I was sure. Now I'm positive.

You're a moron.

Scott,

this entry shows just how ignorant you are.

Sample did great things for the university. During his tenure, USC improved academically, and quite substantially, I might add (went from 41st to 26th in the US News and World Report rankings). USC also significantly increased its research grants and overall donations.

In addition, he did this all while battling Parkinson's disease.

Maybe you should do even a small bit of research before you make your snide remarks.

Don't forget that the Campus Center fountain is named after Mrs. Sample's parents.

But hey, USC now has a real campus center / student union, and an on-campus (well across the street) basketball arena, leaky roof and all. Those are just two of the many things that were talked about for years, but finally got done under Sample's watch.

Let's see if Nikias can oversee the completion of the new football facilities and new University Village. I hear he's a pretty good fundraiser in his own right.

I know it's hard to believe, but there are other important things outside of sports. Wolf, you should really use the "count to 10" rule before you write something. Of course it probably wouldn't help.

The Donkey also knows the rear of the horse statue is named after Mr. Scott Wolf.

Just wolfie catering to his largely bruin readership. Unlike most football blogs, hits will go down once the season starts and the bruins crawl back into their cave.
