On The Quarterbacks

| | Comments (14) |

As much fun as it might be to have a quarterback controversy, nothing indicates there is one. The stats today might seem lopsided between the quarterbacks, but stats are relatively meaningless especially when the quarterbacks are going against completely different defenses.
``Matt's the starter,'' Lane Kiffin said. ``I wouldn't say he's far ahead. I wouldn't have two game plans (if we had a game), which is unusual.''
I do not recall two game plans for the quarterbacks last year either but Barkley was a freshman so maybe the No. 1 QB had a more-limited game plan (though Caesar would never admit it).
But unless Barkley gets hurt, he is the starter. And Mustain is the backup. And Jesse Scroggins is No. 3 fresh off an 0 for 4 effort with an interception in his first college scrimmage. Paging Garrett Green?

Scott,

When will you address the questions from the last open forum? Been awhile.

Scott, even we BruWins don't take tacky shots at freshman Scroggins or amiable back-up Garrett Green. Why should you?

Scoggins is gonna be legit. He needs reps. Wolf is a hater...

Wow Scottie takin shots at freshman in their first scrimmage, huh? That's pretty low even for you buddy...

Leave Mr. Wolff alone, he gets paid for reporting what he sees, not what you want to hear. Keep up the great work Scott.

Green was excellent and was leading the group last year when there were four competing. Pete took him out of the competition even though he was doing really well. He never really got a chance as he was always being moved around. He always did great at whatever he was asked to do and never complained. Wolf has no right to put down either Scroggins who just had a 50 yard completion in practice the other day or Green who was a true Trojan!

oh there will be a controversy and the same supporters of the Pious Passer will be calling for his benching prior to game 3.

the kid is a INT-thowing machine...recall last year he threw 15 picks in an offense that shielded him from throwing in any pressure situation. this year with the running game in the crapper, the Pious Passer will be exposed as the average player he is. nice kid, but he's just average.

herh herh herh.

Any bruin critiquing Barkely is a farce. What QB do you have? You have even had a medicore quarterback in 12 years. People that live in glass houses don't throw stones! The bruins are shi*, have been shi* for years and you come over here talk it up. Pay attention to your own crappy little team that is going to finish 4-8 this year after being blown out in Texas probably by 50+ points. I am really waiting for the game and the bs to follow from you envious, penis envy, bruins.

Two things Scooter:

The stats seem lopsided? How? Mustain threw more than twice as much, but when you adjust for total number of throws, Barkley's stats actually come out favorably.
Mustain: 23-35, 231 yards, 1 TD 0 INT
Barkley: 9-15, 127 yards, 1 TD 0INT - adjusted to be 21-35, 296 yards, 2 TD O INT

Also, you don't remember a second game plan last year? Did you ever watch the Washington game? That was definitely a game plan we never saw before or after. I think I can say pretty confidently that Pete had two very different game plans for Barkley and Corp.

No, NDLarry, I was the one who called you vulgar. You are not the only one on here who traffics in profanities and nastiness, but you are giving the rest of them a run for their money.

I believe Trojan 70's point was that the rest of us are idiots for trying to argue with you.

great news for pac10 teams -- Barkley is not mobile and is easy to sack -- as long as you take away his first read

Is Corp still around?
