Prior Comeback

Former USC pitcher Mark Prior's signed with the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden League. Prior's not pitched in the major leagues since 2006 after being sidelined with shoulder injuries.

I saw him pitch in the NCAA Super-Regionals years ago at Dedeaux. Totally f-ing dominating. A massive talent. It's a shame he proved so fragile. I wish him the best in his comeback.

He was the Friday night pitcher when I was a student in 2000 and 2001 and was the best I'd ever seen at the college level. He was effortlessly throwing 92-94 with a hook that fell off the table. Chase Utley couldn't hit him. Joe Borchard of Stanford hit an oppo bomb off him but then Prior returned the favor by K'ing him, including one looking. I remember that game ended with benches clearing and Borchard and Prior going at it. He was a super competitor and I hope his comeback is successful.
