Scrimmage Thoughts

Today's scrimmage was skewed by the fact live tackling seemed to be an on-and-off thing, which even Lane Kiffin admitted made the stats meaningless. For example, running backs and receivers could not really get yards after catches or could be whistled down with a slap from a defensive player.
That said, the first-team defense was dominating (again) and the front seven makes it difficult to see how much Matt Barkley can really do because he does not get much time to throw and has to throw passes away.
Freshman tight end Randall Telfer emerged with some nice catches while wide receivers Ronald Johnson and De'von Flournoy also had big days. The secondary also looks pretty good despite its youth.
