Voice Of The Irish
Mike Mayock of the NFL Network will replace Pat Haden as NBC's Notre Dame analyst. Mayock is a no-nonsense personality who might be a surprising choice to some but he's knowledgeable and better than just hiring Joe Montana or some other Irish yes man.

It will be interesting to see how Mayock does in this role. My instincts say that he's not a good choice, but I could be mistaken.
Don't get me wrong. I think Mike Mayock is great at what he does. I definitely listen to him during the runup to the NFL draft (including the combine and Senior Bowl week). But everything he does and says is totally and 100% NFL draft-centric. I can't imagine him just discussing the play on the field without dissecting how the players making the play will translate to the NFL - their strengths, weaknesses, etc.
Good luck to him though. Like Scooter says, he's better than some Irish boot-licker shlub.
er, schlub.
Isn't Theisman unemployed?
I thought God was the voice of the Irish?
Poor Notre Dame. First they had a Trojan from USC calling their games, now an Eagle from Boston College will have the honors.
Get him a drool bib and spit screen, and maybe some speech lessons for his lisp.
Actually, this is the perfect ND hire, a drooling, spittleing lisper, he's a younger Lou Holtz!
