Corp may not even make it in D2. As I recall, Wolf was one of Corp's supporters and was rather harsh on USC when Corp pouted and ran home to daddy.

Scott's a reporter, not a fanboy. He was right in wondering whether Corp should have been told if he was starting. And the microscope Scott put on that little incident and the subsequent disaster gave us all a lot of insight into Corp. A kid who wanted to lead would have brushed it off. See Mitch Mustain, who will be a damned effective backup if needed and will get more than mop-up duty this year to minimize the chance of Barks getting injured.

Corp's responses to everything he faced --last-minute notification, pressure in Washington game, post-loss downward spiral-- simply revealed that he lacked the character and heart necessary to win at D1 level.
Mustain is smart, dedicated, hard-working and will probably get a serious shot at the NFL.
As far as Wolf being a reporter. That is as questionable as Corp being a D1 QB. Most of the reporters I know work downtown

Couldn't disagree more. Not informing a second string quarterback that he's starting is a terrible decision by the coaching staff. A quarterback's got to get himself mentally prepared and Carroll and (the worst O-coordinator ever) bates did a horrendous job of that last year. There's simply no excuse for their ineptitude. I don't think the two of them could have botched the job more if they were on a mission to screw up SC's offense double handedly.
Of course, that being said, Corp did himself no favors with his performance last year in Seattle. But I will always put it at the feet of Carroll and Bates for Corp's failure at SC.
Seriously... Worst. Offensive. Play calling. Ever.

Sureshot, I agree with you on Bates being a poor college OC, but Corp's failure is his own. Mustain is in the same boat and I have not seen him shrivel up and cower. He will be an NFL player yet. Corp was just a good HS QB who probably just never had it in him to make D1 level.
