Discuss The Game
Happy? Unhappy? Allen Bradford emerged. But why the 2-point plays?

You miss the first time then you go for it the second... and third.
My question is why didn't they go to Allen Bradford for the last 2-point play instead of Marc Tyler?
Didn't cover...again. By one point. I'll bet hose that wagered on SC are pi$$ed over the 2pt tries. I don't get that either. Offense: B Defense C Special Teams A+
There were a few positives. The D-line and linebackers looked better and the secondary seemed to be stepping it up. It was also nice to have some turnovers! Not too sure why they keep doing these fake field-goals. I think we can draw a few conclusions: Barkley is not ready to be the leader of the offense, tailback-by-committee is back and the penalties are probably are own worst enemy. But a win is a win and I'll take it. I still think this team wins 5 games, maybe 6.
Gallippo looked very good today and definitely needs to see more reps during the game. Overall, SC did enough to win after wearing MN out. Should be enough of a positive push to get them to WSU next week.
Remember...any win on the road is a good win. Fight on!
SC can't stop the pass so the Minnesota coach runs into the line on 1st and 2nd down, brilliant. Does he know you can pass on any down?
This is a game Minnesota could have won, if it had a head coach with a brain.
USC will win next week and the week after, then it's all downhill from there, this is a mediocre team.
You fair weather USC fans make sick to my f**kin stomach.
First failed two pt conversion is Mustain's bad decision. He's given the option if he sees advantage.
It was a mixed bag. Defense still has some problems. They seem confused on crossing routes over the middle. Kennard hasn't stepped up. In fact, I can't point to anyone dominating on defense this year. It's dissapointing that they gave up a TD again at the end when they had the game wrapped up.
The offense seems OK, but has plenty of room for improvement. They need to get the ball to Baxter on the outside more.
And thank god I don't gamble or I'd be pissed about the missed 2 point conversions and the last Minn TD.
Still sloppy. And Barkley regressed. Wow-he is getting worse each week. Is it good news that he will be around when we are off probation his senior year? Belotti rates him 4th best int he PAC--and that is with him rated ahead of Locker!
Some perspective, North Dakota State hung 42 on them.
D, and especially the secondary, looks better. I think they will be good by the end of the year.
Going for 2 makes sense. Now if Ausberry could outjump the guy 2 feet shorter than him, and our QBs could throw a decent ball, we might have something.
In the abstract, if we make only 50% we break even. You gotta figure that against these inferior teams we should be able to get 2.5 yards at least half the time.
@suckafree
I'm not loving the fair weather crowd, either. This is not a "mediocre" team. It's one thing to say the schedule gets tougher. Can't deny that. But the talent is there and we're starting to see some flashes. Personally, I can't wait for the Oregon and Stanford games. Maybe we'll win, maybe we won't. Either way, it's gonna be fun.
"I still think this team wins 5 games, maybe 6."
This is the dumbest comment yet. We have three wins and only OU looks probable for a loss. Have some faith. Are you terrified of UCLA and ND? Jeez.
Strangely, no one mentioned the stable of runners who showed great promise today. But then again how good is Minnie's defensive line? Still, you had to like Bradford up the middle and Baxer around the flank. And I liked that deep drop by Barkley that gave him time to wait for Ronald Johnson to make all of his moves.
Now, the defense was great at stopping the run, but they were able to load the box with nine guys most plays because Minnie was so stupidly predictable. And the Trojans still look porous in the secondary.
Did like the variety in the play-calling, reminiscent of when Kiffin was calling the plays. Oh, he's still calling the plays?
A nice win, but does not help Troy prepare for the Pac-10 throwing teams. Still, it is nice that a developing team such as SC is will have had a solid month and 4-games under its belt before the real season commences.
Go Trojans!
As painful as it is to watch at times this season, I am so thankful that all three games have been a struggle. Nobody on that team is going to be overconfident heading into Pac-10 play. I am also thankful that our next two games are against the Washington schools.
Woods looks like he has been playing at this level for three years. How good is he going to be? Baxter is also showing that he is going to be a stud. McDonald looks very solid. Starling showed up today for the first time this season. There are a lot of positives out there. You just have to watch this team with a different set of expectations.
Troy Ice.........Who does Belotti have rated ahead? Obviously Luck and Foles, but if Locker is behind Barkley, who else? Threat?
T. Conquest,
Yep--he rated Threat ahead.
Not sure what Belotti is thinking. He had Luck 3rd. Foles is a nice player and Threet is decent, but Luck is far and away the best QB (maybe best player) in the Pac-10.
starling needs to learn to catch interceptions with his hands. drill: throw the ball from QB position toward secondary, catch the ball with the hands, not against the chest
