The Arizona Cardinals released Matt Leinart today.
``To be honest, for both parties, I think this was the best direction to go,'' Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said.
Rookie Max Hall will be the Cardinals' backup this season.

Wonder how Leinart feels about Reggie Bush and the vacating of the wins from the 2005 season? Leinart decided to stay in college that season, and forego potentially being the number one pick in the draft (Alex Smith was taken by SF). The season is now vacated, and Leinart is a free agent.
Instead of going to (perhaps) the 49ers and making extra millions, he was drafted 10th and went to the traditionally dysfunctional Cardinals. Denny Green played Leinart, who did well for a rookie QB. He never meshed with Whisenhunt and could never get out of the dog house. They say he can't throw deep, but I remember a few bombs he unleashed in his USC career that hit the mark.

Where are all the bRUIN trolls?!!
Oooh that's right, watching the bRUINs lose to K-State. Sadly, they'd be pretty good without that little PRINCE at the helm. 7/22 for 56 yards with an INT to start the 4th qtr. What a joke.
PS. For the bRUINs that slam Leinart, how many UCLA QB's are currently in the NFL? Oh.... ouch!
FIGHT ON!!!

Oh, and add a FUMBLE to Prince's résumé. Nice.

First off, why bring up ucla? Who cares.
Second, I live in Arizona and I'll repeat my takes I put on the OC blog:
- Leinart wasn't drafted by Whisenhunt. Not his guy.
- Leinart's arm is suspect past 20 yards. Very accurate inside 20, but they want someone who can put it out there for Fitzgerald and the other good Cards receivers to go after it.
- No fire in Leinart.
- Cards really high on their 2 rookie QBs. They didn't want to lose one to waivers before putting one on the practice squad. Max Hall is the future. He was undrafted out of BYU and is Danny White's nephew.
- Bottom line is Whisenhunt didn't want him as his starting QB.

Leinart was great in college at SC
I could give a hang less what these kids do as paid athletes or whether they are a Raider, a Viking, or a Dolphin-- the NFl is all the same to me.
One word on ucla-- Prince looks pretty dangerous to me, both as a passer and runner. He had a lot of drops by his receivers today.
ucla is no longer a pushover, unfortunately, but an 0-4 start looks quite possible at this point, which would be mentally hard on the bruins to finish out the season on a positive note.
i am out of the office right now, if you need immediate assistance for an urgent matter, please contact Yo-Duh or Charlie Bucket at 1(800) WOLF-MAN. thanks

TC: Why bring up UCLA? Because this blog is filled with envious bRUIN fans that love USC's blog more than their own, that's why I bring it up. They're here all day every day.
I don't mind the retarded comments they leave non-stop, but am wondering where they are now that Fucla embarrasses themselves again.
Oops!
Fight on

Big NCAA numbers when you are surrounded by superior athletes will not protect you at the NFL level. Where there is rarely the absolute disparity in talent you had in a USC or Miami or now have in Alabama.
There is nothing and I mean nothing on a football field that Max Hall cannot do better than Matt. And Max is not even a top tier NFL QB. Denny Green is a proven moron. All talk and no organization.
USC has graduated as many fine future Hall of Fame athletes as anyone. Matt was not one of them although he got a ridiculous amount of undeserved credit.
Am I the only one who noticed that his knee problem severly limited his mobility at USC??? Not a particularly strong arm and weak work habits. He will be out of the NFL in 2 years unless he takes the league minimum and rides the pine hoping for injuries.

There are so many great players coming out of college, one little hickup in your skillset will keep you out of games
It could have been worse: he could have been drafted by the raiders or detroit

On the plus side, Matt can now go back to court and lower his child support payments to Bryn and Super Baby.
