``In my opinion the most talented football team in our conference from top to bottom.''
-- Washington coach Steve Sarkisian on USC. What will he say when he faces Oregon or Stanford?

I hate to say this but: There is a reason Kiffin is being very quiet in the past few weeks.....SC is in trouble this year and he knows it. Both Virginia & Minnesota were picked to finish last in their conferences. Minnesota has lost to South Dakota and Northern Illinois at home by the about same margins they did to USC after they squeaked out a win against a Middle Tennessee State team playing without their starting QB. Those 2009 Stanford/Oregon trashings will happen again shortly, and if there isn't massive improvement by December, the Monopoly in LA may very well be over, at least for the next 2-3 years.

I'm not sure there's a more talented team in the PAC. Unfortunately, the talent is loaded at a few positions and doesn't play particularly smart football right now. There's no reason SC should be any worse than last year despite all the off-season hassles. That said, I'm not sure they win 9 games this year.

Oregon will win the Sarkisian Award for "most heart", while Stanford will win the Sarkisian Award for "smartest". I just get the feeling that Sark would be better off retiring this week, while he is 1-0 and Caesar and 1-0 against USC. It's only gonna get worse for him.

In my opinion, Kiffin needs to win the games he is expected to, and keep the one's he is expected to lose very very close at the end of those games so he can call plays for that talent to pull out the wins. That means no late game fumbles, picks and dumb penalties. The real season starts this week with a "pay back"!

Quit being such a negative f*cking Nancy. How do YOU know what the hell Kiffin thinks?
See, my interpretation of Kiffin slightly differs. You think he's worried about our team, while I think he's made a few positive statements indicating otherwise.
...For example, the way he has spoken about young players like Jawanza Starling, TJ McDonald, Nickell Robey, Robert Woods, and Dillon Baxter tells me he's EXTREMELY optimistic about the potential of these young players.
With smart recruiting in order to enhance depth, keeping players healthy, and developing these young and talented players, I'm sure Kiffin feels positive about the future.
...Just sayin...

FIGHT ON!!!

The mistake that USC committed over that past 2 or 3 years is that they failed to recruit enough 5-star OLinemen, Carroll instead chose to stock up on 5-star Runninbacks and Wide Receivers. USC by far has the most talented team in the conference, maybe the country - in SKILLED positions, unfortunately for USC, they did very little in recruiting in the OLine, LB, DB and somewhat okay in the DLine, they are only one major injury away at the OLine to have their season pretty much ruined, because they have no depth...THAT, is what's going to do USC in after this year or next, specially with 10 less scholarships to give out...it will be almost impossible to recover because every scholarship they give out, better perform at the expectations of USC, the problem is they don't always perform as billed...look at Presley and Carroll at UCLA, sure they are only sophomores and they still have time, but others such as Ricky Marvray who wasn't heavily recruited by other school has excelled far and beyond what UCLA hoped for.

Tag line to BruinRob...nice to see a UCLA fan actually talk sense instead of a lot of trash. You make valid points and believe me every SC fan knows we are only two injuries away from having a really bad season. Petey did us no favors, that's for sure. Fight on, we will.

@lbc trojan - I believe John McKay in his book A Coaches Story said "Potential means you aren't worth a Damn Yet"......just saying.
