Looks like Leinart was right, Whisenhunt is basing the decision on personal, off the field reasons that don't have to do with football.
Lets look at the preason stats for Leinart and Anderson...
Leinart: 19/23 (82.6%) 161 yards (8.4 yds/completion) 1 TD 0 INT
Anderson: 31/53 (58.5%) 287 yards (9.2 yds/completion) 2 TD 2 INT
So Anderson has attempted 30 more passes than Leinart and only has 1 more TD. Also, the criticism of Leinart is that he isn't making the "big play," but Anderson is only averaging .7 yards more per completion, while completing a far lower % if his passes.
