USC 49, Hawaii 30

This game will never end. Marc Tyler shows his pop with a 44-yard run where he goes right and reverses course and goes through the Hawaii defense. Tackling 101 this is not.

I give **LANE** Kiffin an A for offensive play calling. But Monte didn't impress me.

I hope it was only Hawaii's fleet-footed receivers that made SC's secondary look so bad, but I don't know...Hard to know if the offense is that good or that the Trojans were that much bigger than Hawaii...Barkley had nice touch on the ball...SC was not used to that humidity and may have wilted somewhat...and the defense got little rest...not sure if the Front-7 is great at this point of the season...and it WAS the first game of the year, so sloppiness should be expected.

I can't wait to hear some honest quotes from the coaching staff...and maybe some of the seniors on defense too.

The D-backs were awful. They couldn't cover or tackle. And the Tampa 2 is terrible. Leave the middle open and have Kenard play 50 yards off the line as some sort of safety. WTF!

Tackling was terrible but what surprised me the most was all the Hawaii receivers running free in space. Not a great start for the young secondary.

Also, what's up with all the 2 point conversion attempts? Kick the PAT already.

Disturbing defensive ineptitude tonight. Speaking of ineptitude, what would have happened if Hawaii didn't coach itself off a cliff??

At least we didn't have to listen to Carroll spin this victory. It was a mess on the defensive side of the ball. Monte has alot of work to do this week.

This sure isn't the Pete Carroll "bend but don't break, give up the short yardage to protect against the big play" defense. A win is a win, but I don't like seeing USC giving up big plays on defense, especially to an inferior Hawaii team. I hope they get their creamed QB back, apply lessons learned tonight, and take it to Boise State this year.
