Ho to split the conference... I think there should be two divisions named, of course, after legendary USC coaches (patterned on the historic naming of NHL divisions).

The Hackett Division consists of:
Washington State
Oregon State
Cal
Stanford
UCLA
Colorado

The Smith Division consists of:
Arizona (of course)
Utah
Washington
Oregon
USC
Arizona State

The teams play 4/5 teams in their division and 5/6 in the other division. Local rivalries are scheduled first, followed by the longest continuous non-local rivalries. Other games rotate yearly to complete the schedules.

As a twist, the team with the best conference record of the Hackett Division is promoted to the Smith division, while the team with the worst conference record in the Smith Division is demoted to the Hackett Division.

In the event that 3 additional teams are added to the Pac-12 (making a Pac-15), a new division, the Tollner Division, will take one mediocre added team + four bottom feeders from the Hackett Division.

In the unlikely event that USC is demoted to the Hackett Division, the Division will be renamed for the head coach active at USC when the demotion occurs.
