USC is 20th in this week's Sagarin ratings, which are a combination of his BCS rankings, which do not consider margin of victory, and his "predictor" rankings, which do. And somehow, Cal is ranked 19th.

It get's even better: The "predctor" rankings are his true rankings because the "ELO CHESS" rankings factor out margin of victry as required by the BCS. Sagarin's ratings, which I think are pretty useful in general, would suggest that Cal should be favored by 5-6 points if the two teams were playing in Berkley on Saturday. By the way, Sagarin's ratings suggest that OR will beat SC by 4-5 points.

This is why none of the computers have any validity. They have not figured out a way (or, worse, the humans doing the date input don't think it's important) to prioritize head to head.
Sagarin is generally the best, but, they all have no relation to reality.

sped,
No, it didn't. But in case you missed it, Cal beat the fruity little bruins at home by 4 TDs a few weeks ago.
The key, at least the way I see it, is improvement. Does your team get better during the season, or do you have to point to wins in August and September to justify that your season was not a disaster. For example, last year's Sc win against Ohio St. meant less to me because of the way that Carroll's team finished the year. In case you haven't noticed, during Ricky's tenure, ucla's only "success" has been at the start of the season (you remember those big wins against Tennessee, SD St. and the Texas team that just lost at home to Iowa St.). As long as you are happy with that, so am I.

Hahahahaha @ sped.. what a loser. UCLA couldn't be ANY MORE pathetic (neither could the Texas Longhorns!! Iowa State?!) and you're still spouting off!!
USC=No bowl games due to sanctions
UCLA=No bowl games due to complete incompetence on the football field!
One question to the trOJies, how many quality wins do you have this season?

BruinRob,
You can count the Hawaii Rainbow beat down as quality. The Rainbows have won 6 in a row including a win over a ranked Nevada, 27-21. The blow-out of Cal is HUGE, and recent.
@schammerd47, a beat own on Hawaii? USC gave up 600 yards to them, and after a cheap shot their starting QB came out of the game in the second quarter, and you will only won by a 9 points...and the officiating was horrendous!! favoring USC of course. In fact your trOJans dropped in the rankings after that win, and the next two wins in a row.
You guys say UCLA is pathetic, yet as bad as we are, we still rank higher in total defense and USC ranks 112th out of 120 Div-1 teams against the pass...and after your loss Oregon you still have to face, Threet from ASU, Boles from Arizona, and the speed of Oregon State at Corvalis, those are four losses for USC in my book, which means USC will have lost 6 of their last 7 games, not counting the two rilvary games against UCLA and Notre Dame which are rilvary games and anything can happen. Don't get too excited there "hammer".

Not to count out their win over powerhouse Arizona State. Hopefully I don't have to eat my words when we play them later in the season. BumminRob you of course meant Nick FOLES from Arizona. Getting a little goofy after that thrashing UCLA got Thursday I see. BTW will UCLA have ANY eligible players left to play against Arizona? Seems like every time I turn on my computer a couple more are suspended. Maybe they should spend their time studying instead of getting in trouble.
