USC is No. 6 in the nation in third-down conversions at 53 percent. Last year, the Trojans were 90th, converting 36 percent of the time on third downs.
I think Lane Kiffin is definitely capable of calling plays and also developing offense. Give him good defense and some good players, and we might have some really good teams after weathering the storm few years from now.

Bates is pretty douchie. He loved hanging with Cutler. Perhaps UCLA will replace the soon to be fired chow chow with bates..

Norm Chow is overrated.
Here are some FACTS …again:
• Chow has had 5 major jobs – BYU,NC State, USC, NFL Titans & UCLA. He has only been “successful” only when working s an assistant to winning coaches, LaVell Edwards & Pete Carroll. Carroll’s teams were highly successful after Chow left finishing in the top 10 every year but 2009.
• Chow teams other than at SC only finished in AP top twice, 1994 and 1996… and they were actually Edward’s teams.
• Chow left BYU under pressure for poor finishes. Here's a quote from the Deseret News from the time he left: "Chow has been the target of the ire of BYU fans for the Cougar's rocky performance in recent years, especially this year after BYU lost its last three games of the regular season."
• The Titans fired Chow. Here a nugget from ESPN "The Titans fired offensive coordinator Norm Chow after a season of struggling to score points,.."
• While Chow may get credit for developing QBs, he may have just benefited from good talent. We'll find out soon enough
• Under weak coaches, (NC State, Titans, UCLA) Chow has been less than stellar, mediocre is the better term.
Looks like lot's of hype around a guy who is good at best. This year will tell it all.

Tirebiter - Thanks man, but we already have too many orifices around here.
Seriously though, I got really sick of hearing all about how it was Chow. When I looked at his background, there was a clear pattern: good QB and good head coach and Chow looks like a genius.
I am just curious where all the genius is these days. And if he is such a damn QB maker, why has he done squat with the talent at sUCLA.
Undoubtedly what we will hear most about Chow are excuses; something we never heard from Pete Carroll.
The Anti-Neuheisel Effect: Winning!!!
