Which Team Is Which?
If the late USC coach John McKay looked down at the teams playing in this week's game wearing generic uniforms, which team would he think was the Trojans?
The one that runs the ball and plays physical football? Or the one that lines up for extra points with guys all over the field and runs the Wildcat formation?

For the present Trojans it's their wrinkle. For McKay it was a show of strength to pound the ball. One thing we always said about a McKay team is that the 4th quarter belonged to USC because the other team was so beat up and tired they couldn't stay with us. Coach Baxter has solidified the special teams and seems to be a mentor when it comes to this so who am I to challenge him about extra points?
I think he would say whichever team wins looks like the Trojans.
John McKay, the GREATEST COACH IN MODERN USC FOOTBALL HISTORY, is rolling over in his grave and hoping that somehow Haden will find a competent coach to replace coach sunshinepumper.
Loser.
Maybe the same answer as 70 and 71 when McKay was coach. Or how about this: McKay reads generic sports articles written by Scott Wolf and an average sixth-grader. Which writes for the Daily News??
Never let the facts stand in your way, Scott. SC has rushed 184 times for 1.172 yards (6.4 per carry) and Stanford has rushed 200 times for 1,070 yards (5.4 per carry.)
Granted McKay's teams would be physical, but PCs were physical too, just as much so. We cannot say for sure what the defense would look like today if it had a normal number of healthy players and reasonable depth to have hard practices. Stanford's physical play did not get it a win last Saturday. Speed and imaginative offense beat them pretty good. So would a physical McKay team be able to beat today's Oregon?
Hey Flyerz. McKay was smart enough to realize what the problem was and fixed it, 12-0 in 1972. Now it's throw it laterally right, throw it laterally left, and watch POS teams get 500+ on your D, I don't remember many McKay D's getting lit like this one does and will all year.
If John McKay had the chance to address Scott Wolf in a press conference, the only thing left standing would be the sissy little Newcastle United kit or whatever-the-hell-team Wolf follows. That's it. Even little Scotty's note pad would be consumed.
And I'm talking about today. If Coach McKay were still alive? It wouldn't even be that.
Scott Wolf's Grammar Usage does NOT include periods. Just lots and lots of commas.
McKay was one of SC's greatest coaches, sharing that distinction with Jones. But neither was perfect: McKay's Trojans were 4–6 in 60, 4–5–1 in 61, 7–3 in 63, 7–3 in 64, 7–2–1 in 65, 7–4 in 66, USC 6–4–1 in 70, 6–4–1 in 71, and 8–4 in 75. So, who wants to return to the days of McKay?
Carroll's run from 02-08 was remarkable (albeit tainted)--topped only by FL St's run from 87-00.
Let's try to keep things in perspective shall we?
