Avoiding History
USC needs to win its final two games to avoid its worst record since 2001. This is not a great way for Lane Kiffin to have to end the season, mainly because the nonconference was non-taxing and even though the Pac-10 is doing well in power rankings, Arizona is sinking while Oregon and Stanford are the only real elite teams to deal with this year.
Consider that Oregon State was under .500 when it routed the Trojans and that teams are scrambling within the conference just to be bowl eligible. And three of USC's opponents are currently listed in the top 10 of coacheshotseat.com (Arizona State, UCLA, Washington State).

Seriously Scooter, coacheshotseat.com means nothing. Absolutely nothing.
@sureshot: Oh, and I suppose next you'll be questioning the importance of the Gold Sheet.
The reason the teams are all around .500 is that they are beating up on each other. Pretty much the difference from 3rd to 10th isn't very far. Hell, UCLA beat Texas. Yes they're down, but not that far down.
If this were another conference with initials S.E.C. the football pundits would be using this as an example of how strong and dominant the conference is top to bottom.
Anteater, I absolutely agree. I hate seeing a 20th ranked SEC team play a 10th ranked SEC team. If the 20th ranked team pulls an "upset" then they get bumped up to 10-12th and the team that was previously ranked 10 gets moved down to 18-20. It's just a cycle.
overrated teams playing overrated teams and at the end of the day, they both remain overrated
