Lifts Under Review
Lane Kiffin said tonight USC athletic director Pat Haden and administrators are reviewing the safety of filming football practices with hydraulic lifts in the wake of last week's fatal accident at Notre Dame.
One specific concern is the location of a lift on the street outside Howard Jones Field, where cars pass daily. USC uses three hydraulic lifts to film every football practice.

Valid concern. If a car hits the lift it would be tragic. Build a permanent tower.

I'm amazed that schools aren't just using remote controlled cameras atop of poles. You would figure they would just mount them on the goal posts and light poles or poles along the sideline and have them operated by remote with some playback equipment down on the field for instant review.
Considering what these programs spend, it's baffling that they aren't more advanced with technology.
