More Kiffin On Game
``Obviously it was not a good performance by us after playing well for a couple of weeks in a row. I'm very disappointed and a little shocked. You go back over it, and you turn the ball over a couple of times, and can't make third downs, and don't make hardly any fourth downs and don't get any turnovers, it's going to happen.''
-- USC coach Lane Kiffin

"It's going to happen," Lane?? For all of PCs douchy qualities (especially after the sanctions) he never made such dumb excuses. There is something wrong with Kiffin's obliging tone here. Our team looked like deers lost in the headlights.
Has anyone gotten a ransom note? Where are our guys? I don't know who those guys playing in SC uniforms last night were, but they weren't the Trojans I know. Two more games to endure. Hang in there...
I agree the team played like in they were not there. Of course the coaching was not either. The most poorly coached SC game I have ever seen. I was wondering if we had brought back last years off. coordinator, was that booty at qb, not able to throw downfield, 4th and 2 and we go deep, 2nd and 20 we wildcat straight ahead, 3rd and 17 Tyler gets the ball up the middle, and to top it off Rojo can't run north/south. Kiffen, get Chow for next year and give it up, we have way to much talent to waste like that.
Really people. How many times did the O-line hold on 1st down? Converting 1st & 20 is never easy. How about if MB throws the ball to Woods on the pick 6 play? How about if Robey makes a disciplined play on the fake? What if we recover Katz fumble? What if Shareece doesnt go Roberto Duran on the INT he dropped? What if Khaled Holmes doesnt fall down on that toss sweep on 4th down? Tyler would have had a gaping cutback lane & might still be running. Its a game of inches & bounces. The O-line got manhandled up front - #54 on OSU is a beast. I am also quick to be criticial of MB, he was very slow in his decision making, but just watching on TV, its tough to see the coverage - he was clearly gun shy after the pick 6 & didnt seem to be spinning the ball all too well - the best is ahead for this kid - we forget he's a true sophmore. To call it the most poorly coached SC game ever seen is way off based. Poor execution & a young team. How about praising some of the players who never gave up... CJ GABLE - showed major heart every time he touched the ball. Too bad the O-line didnt play as inspired as CJ. Also, props to Mike Riley - it doesnt matter who's coaching SC, he's dialed it up when SC goes to Corvallis - and Quizz, never fumbled a carry in his career @ OSU. Lastly, I really enjoyed Mike Bellotti's commentary last night, not the most dynamic, but good to hear a sound football head give some insight, he was very good.
I still say it was poorly coached, poorly planned overall. I do agree with the running backs, they were awsome. And what if's are just that.
Not one of the what ifs had anything to do with coaching. I think we Trojan fans are too quick to point blame at the coach in this instance, agree it wasnt his best day, but nothing ever went our way.
