Pat Haden headed the committee that hired Kiffin, so what do you want him to say, he wasted Dr. Buss's money? Now that Pat is loved as an Honorary Domer a loss to them doesn't affect him as much maybe? Or is it the meds? He says the same thing at all times so who knows what is going on in his noggin.

I tired of the excuse, still poor tackling, poor get off from the defensive line. The offense could not run the ball consistently because we run zone so much and the guards could not block the Linebackers.

Why does Haden feel the need to say these things, in this way? In his 8/03 letter to the Trojan Family after taking the job, he wrote that "Mike Garrett was a sensational athletic director" (again with the *sensational*), and he was still using the same kind of awkwardly gushing terms about Reggie Bush, even after the sanctions came down (but before Bush's phone call to him, which got way too much play over whether it was an apology or not -- a stupid semantics argument that Haden kept going for days).

What would really be *sensational* is if Haden axed both Kiffins and got to serious work in turning the program around. The fact that he headed the committee that brought Lane back to USC, even with his abysmal record at Oakland and Tennessee, should, unfortunately, have been some indication of what to expect from our new AD. But he could still do some good if he would, at the bare minimum, toughen up in his assessment of people and stop with all the silly fawning.

oyo, you hit the nail on the head regarding several of your points. Especially with regards to Haden getting rid of the Kiffins and getting someone better to lead our team. I still like Mike Riley and think that he can do wonders for our team with all the talent we have.
