Third-Down Blues

Monte Kiffin was unhappy with USC's third-down defense tonight.
``To give up a third-and-12 (in the first half) and let them hit a seam route, you can't do that,'' Kiffin said.

I want to know why the third and long defense is so terrible. It's the easiest situation to defend, the kind of thing you want to get your opponent in, and yet somehow, it's our defense's Achilles heel.

How is this possible.

PS. Barkley is the A-Rod of college football. His clutch to choke ratio it 1/20.
