Say What?

ESPN analyst Mark May discusses the Ohio State suspensions for next season, but not the Sugar Bowl, and argues the NCAA lets the Big Ten and Pac-10 off the hook.
``That's the way the NCAA is, they will take certain conferences, particularly the Big Ten, their sacred cows, and the Pac-10, and they won't punish them like they punish other conferences, particularly the SEC.''

I always liked Mark May, but WTF? Yes, this is ridiculous about Ohio State, but how is the USC penalty getting off the off? And the SEC gets off scott free with their sh*t.

Would love to hear the laughter at the script in the production meeting. However many takes, it is a pro that can get that out with a straight face. $ECPN, the worldwide leader in sports entertainment indeed.

Anyone follow the IMG conference in Manhattan a week ago? It's all out war with the PAC 12 and ESPN for the contract and Larry Scott and the companies were already in a nasty back and forth about his PAC 12 network. After they came down on Scott the first time with the PAC 16 there is no pretense, just a lot of vitriol. There is more action in the conference rooms and negotiation table then on the field these days. Billions of dollars at stake- people will kill for far, far less.

The number of Big 10-SEC Bowl matchups on the Prime New Year's Day slots should be enough evidence of who are the sacred cows.

SC gets mugged by the NCAA and Auburn, Georgia, UNC, Tennessee, and Ohio State...get slapped on the hand...what was Mark May drinking???

I saw this on College Football Live and nearly spit my drink across the room. Mark May has constantly backed USC (ripping Notre Dame, to Lou Holtz's chagrin) but this statement was ridiculous. I wonder if ESPN spiked his drink or was holding his child captive or something. This was one of the dumbest things I had ever seen any human being say on television.

Just wow.
