Ticket Talk, Part II
The Pac-10 is not the only place where bowl-ticket apathy exists, Nebraska fans are so bored with the Holiday Bowl, only 7,500 tickets have been sold and the school is offering two free basketball tickets to anyone who buys tickets.
When you take a team who thought they were playing for the Granddaddy and send them 4000 miles away to play an opponent they have absolutely no interest and history with you can guess how that is going to turn out.
I watched Oregon come heavy to play USF a little while ago in Texas but that was pushing it. Remember, SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 teams have had the same problems which is why they locked up and went into marketing partnerships to do bowls in their backyard and created partners that would be compelling.
The SEC and ACC has went into bowl partnerships and the SEC and Big 10 have been paired this season to capitalize on the animosity that has developed. For the PAC 10, a huge amount of animosity has developed with the SEC and a bit with the Big 12 South. And beyond all that there is traditionally the big annual measuring stick of the Rose Bowl which we STUPIDLY gave away when we know we don't have other major bowl tie ins even when compared crap conferences like the ACC or not so Big 12.
I'm willing to keep blaming Hansen for another year but Larry Scott better get his $hit straight.
This bowl sh*t is a joke. It's time for a playoff system. I live in Arizona, and I'll throw up if I have to hear John Junker of the Fiesta Bowl open his yap one more time on the radio and defend the bowls.
