Thomas Fallout

Did De'Anthony Thomas choose Oregon over USC because he wanted to play tailback instead of cornerback? If he signed with the Trojans, he would immediately be considered a starting candidate to replace Shareece Wright and perhaps a spot-play tailback. At Oregon he will be a tailback.
Now it looks like T.J. Bryant and Brian Baucham are the frontrunners to start at corner next season with Torin Harris somewhere behind them.

For what it's worth, at least Kiffin is honest. He could have lied and said he'd be a tailback. Good luck making it to the NFL with that light frame.

I wish De'Anthony "Teensy-Weensy" Thomas good luck, as he will need it if he intends to play as a gnat-sized tailback. Should football not work out, he may consider a career as a jockey. Toss the little mambino on a saddle and watch him ride!

Lets remember, he isn't exactly going to step in as starting TB at Oregon either, with LMJ returning, so hard to believe that starting TB as a Freshman was the lure.

I wish him the best of luck at Oregon... but Scott, considering Oregon has LMJ (junior in 2011), Barner (junior in 2011) and Lache Seastrunk who redshirted last year, how exactly will Thomas see the field as a RB? Are you saying that Thomas was willing to redshirt at Oregon so he could play TB instead of starting right away at USC?

That bleacherreport story sounds like an Onion story. Are we to believe that a kid will live in witness protection being on National TV every Saturday and on campus in Eugene, OR? I think even gang members know how to use mapquest to get from LA to Eugene.

sonicboom is right -- that story seems too over the top to be true.

Then again gang members are so lazy they prey on their own people instead of driving over to the west side of town, The OC or PV.

I think that is exactly why Thomas went with Oregon. DUH? Kiffin's staff told thomas he had a better chance making the NFL as a DB, and since SC is loaded at WRs, there wasn't much chance Thomas could break in there. Look at Thomas' size. Now having said that, if you are Thomas and your dream is to run with the ball, you see what you have to compete with if you sign with SC and you see the perfect offense for your ability (not asking you to necessarily bulldoze up the middle) at Oregon AND-AND you do not have the amount of position players to contend with there, what would you do?
Thomas made the right decision for him!

ThaiB, couldn't you get your homies to ive Thomas a "break"?

I predict that Thomas will play the second running back position - not a backup, but a second back on the field...

who can run a sweep, go out for a pass, or swing out wide and get the option pitch

I say this because... I can't think of any other situation where he could actually play

I just hope he doesn't get buried on the bench - he could have had a good career at a school with less competition like Or St, Wa St, Colorado

James couldn't do crap in the NC, so I am not getting too high on another small back who can't break tackles
