NCAA Case
USC is 18-13 following tonight's victory over Washington. Most analysts believe USC needs to win the Pac-10 Tournament to make the NCAA Tournament, especially with losses to Rider, Bradley and TCU.
But if you are an optimist, here's a case:
Five wins over top 50 teams
Seven wins over top 100 teams
2-2 record vs. AP Top 25 teams
Won 6 of past 8 games
Played first part of season without guard Jio Fontan and with Alex Stepheson nursing broken hand.
OK, that was the optimist part.

2-2 vs AP top 25 teams? Didn't SC beat Texas, Tennessee, Arizona (all when they were ranked) and one or two others?
Come on LBC, just "another" error by the Wolfman.
USC deserves to be in the tournament - I'm not sure if Tennessee is still ranked, but they were when they played - the magic number has historically been 20 wins though. We'll see what happens, good luck.
geeez Louise!! the ScooopMaster trying to lift up Southern Cal all by himself, and the Nattering Nabobs swooop in to try and drag him down!! simply amazing!
wolf reminds one of the ancient king Sisyphus who tries to push Southern Cal up the steep hill of respectability, only to have crooked players, coaches and Nabobs push it down to the bottom again. wolf, you may never gain the credit you deserve from Southern Cal, but the Cadre and millions of others applaud your Sisyphean efforts!!!
The facts? Only a journalist would be bothered with those, gentlemen.
BruinRob playing nice?-- Why don't you teach your fellow SC-blog bruins some manners, although it'd probably be easier to negotiate Middle East peace
And like I have said all along, if SC could split in Washington (actually I thought they'd beat WSU and lose to Wash) and win 2-games in the Pac-10 Tournament they would reach 20-wins, which has been pointed out, seems to be a magic number to garner NCAA attention.
the loss to wazzou requires that we win the conf tourney. don't think even a conf tourney final will do it. the conf, unfairly imo, is looked down upon nationally. why couldn't have klay had his joy ride on wed night?
Yes, interesting that the Trojans defeated Tennessee, Washington, Arizona, ucla, Texas, and nearly defeated Kansas, yet couldn't beat Rider, Oregon State or Oregon twice, TCU, or Washington State.
The team with only 7 players has a difficult task to win the PAC-10 tournament, as they typically could not win the Saturday game after a Thursday game, yet in the tourney, they will have to win 3 days in a row.
ps - Tennessee finished 18-13, 8-8 in the sec.
I think Washington State will and should be the 4th team selected from the conference is there is such a thing.
