In this segment, a question about the Coliseum.

Q: uscmike said:
I read that the Coliseum is adding a giant video screen on the west (closed) end of the stadium, and that the dimensions are four stories high and 150 feet wide. Will it be in place by the first game on September 3rd? Also, will it be displacing any seats, or is it going above last row?

Lastly, is that the best place for it? Did they consider locating it above the "sun deck" at the east end of the stadium?

Any thoughts you have are greatly appreciated. As always, thanks for the forum, Scott.

A: I've seen the markers for the new video board but have not heard if it will displace any seats. Because of its size, I will not be surprised if it does. The location seems to have been decided for two reasons: It provides an alternative for the fans who have trouble viewing the main video board from their seats. And perhaps more importantly, it would be difficult to find any space to install it somewhere else. The peristyle end is already full with two video screens and a scoreboard.
I have to add that I'd be more impressed with new seats or improved ticket gates than another video board.

uscmike, they would never put it above the sundeck because it would obstruct the view of the VIPs at the party below the torch.

Just so long as they don't stretch a 4:3 picture to fit a 16:9 display. Black bars on the side are really OK, and they show that you aren't an HD newbie.
