Story Of The Day
Here's a definitive story on how the Pac-12 secured its TV rights mega-deal, which reinforces my point that the marketplace and timing of the deal were more siginificant than Larry Scott being the commissioner.

While that may or may not be the case, the bottom line is if you don't do anything, nothing will get accomplished. Hansen did nothing, Scott is doing something. Got it, Scooter?
Jeez Wolf is sometimes such a mis-characterizing, negative jerk who cannot give credit where it is due. This is one of those times.
How does this article even remotely do what you say it does? It paints Larry Scott as a master planner who put his chess pieces in a great position call "checkmate" on the networks.
"Scott also pooled all of the school's media rights into one package, giving the conference the additional game inventory it needed to create a channel, just as the Big Ten did when it started its network. Previously, the Pac-10's schools retained their local TV rights, which gave them the ability to broadcast one or two football games a season and a handful of basketball games."
If Larry Scott was Tom Hansen, he would have sold the Pac-12 rights for ten cents on the dollar to the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The things that have happened since Scott took over as Commissioner: Pac 10 goes to Pac 12 and gets the highest TV contract, Big Ten adds Neb, BYU goes independent, TCU goes to the Big East, Texas gets its own network, Big 12 loses two teams and BSU goes to the MWC.
If Commissioner Scott doesn't start the process to expand the conference I doubt that the above moves take place. I guess nobody should take credit for Bin Landen's death since the situation and timing played a bigger role than the people involved.
Au contraire, gilligan -- Larry Scott gets credit for the death of OBL as well, just not on this blog.
@Cafe 84 Pizza: LOL.
Seriously, what's wrong with this fracken guy?
Actually the Bin Laden death is the ONLY thing that the obongo administration desperately does not want to pin on Bush!
