BCS, Meet Justice Dept.
BCS blowhard Bill Hancock said he will meet with the Justice Dept. to discuss the lack of a college football playoff.
Late last week staff attorneys at the Department of Justice Antitrust Division (DOJ) contacted me to request a voluntary background briefing on how the BCS operates. I told them I would be happy to provide it.
``The briefing will occur sometime this summer. No specific date has been set.
``The BCS was carefully created with antitrust laws in mind, and I am confident that it is fully compliant with those laws. It has improved competition by delivering a national championship game between the two top-ranked teams, which only rarely existed before the BCS. It has also dramatically increased access to top-tier bowl games for schools from non-AQ conferences. I look forward to a conversation with the attorneys at the Justice Department.''

So BS Hancock is going to prepare a "briefing" for the Justice Department on how the Bullshit Championship Series is compliant with anti-trust laws of the United States. This makes as much sense as the Vatican preparing a "briefing" on pedophilia in the Catholic Church. Oops, they already did that, and they came up with the brilliant conclusion that it is ok to touch a child if they are over 12 years old.
Look, the BCS is a cartel aimed at giving the SEC, Big 12, and the Big 10, a place in the BCS Title game for the "National Championship." However, there is one conference that has consistently been CHEATED three times out of a place in the BCS Title game.
1.) Oregon 2001- They get screwed out of the title game in favor of a Nebraska team that got their asses handed to them by Colorado, and did not even win their division of the Big 12. Then Oregon destroys Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl to prove they should have played Miami.
2.) USC 2003- SC gets screwed out of playing in the BCS Title game even though they were #1 in both polls. Once again a Big 12 team backs into the Title game after getting destroyed by Kansas St. in the Big 12 title game. OU then gets hammered by LSU.
3.) USC 2008- SC gets screwed out of playing in the title game once again in favor of Florida and Timmy "Gods QB" Tebow and Oklahoma, even though BOTH got BEAT at home, Florida by an unranked Mississippi team, and OU gets beat on a neutral field by 10 to Texas. That game should have been a rematch of the epic 2006 Rose Bowl between UT and SC.
SOo, BS Hancock, you can take your "briefing" roll it up really tight, and stick it up your ass!
FYI re USC 2003... LSU didn't hammer OU. In fact, that was one of the least interesting, worst played championship games in recent memory. Neither team deserved the title based on their pathetic display on the field. USC would have throttled either team had they been given the opportunity.
9.1% unemployment, dead housing market, a double dip recession on the horizon and the Arab Spring turning into al-qaeda Summer and the Obama adminstration is actually devoting time to college football playoffs?
gotroy22 is correct -- the Department of Justice should forget about criminal activity and immediately begin focusing on unemployment.
