The offensive line and defensive line dominate this segment.

How are our ol recruits Hobbi and Martin doing, and, if we had to move a couple of dl to offense, who would be the most likely candidates?
Hopefully related in some way, how many kids can we bring in in Jan. 2012, and, are you sure we have enough walk-ons who could have their scholarships taken away, in case we need them to get to 15 in Feb.2012? Thank you very much ,Scott, for whatever you can say, and please have mercy on me as I've been sick.

Q: Cyrus Hobbi's had a difficult training camp and is learning to play center. Marcus Martin's done fairly well and is currently the No. 2 left guard with Abe Markowitz out. The defensive line doesn't really have too many guys right now that could flip. George Uko could do it but he is needed at defensive tackle. Antwaun Woods would probably be the best bet but they need him on the D-line too. USC can bring in 5-7 players in January. If USC needs to eliminate scholarships I don't think it will be just walk-ons. It would probably be some full-time players that are not meeting the coaches' expectations.

How and when did Devon Kennard become a backup?

A: He isn't really a backup but is rotating with the other ends. At least that's the stated plan. But let's see how it actually works in the Minnesota game. All three main guys (Kennard, Wes Horton, Nick Perry) should play a lot. But we need to see a game to be sure.

I will take a two or three man rotation scheme any time at any position on defense if it keeps the players fresh to where they do not take a play off and get beat. I also like Marcus Allen telling the running backs to run 60 yards during each play they have the ball in practice. That's the way it used to be at SC!
