In the first game of their Brazilian tour, USC defeated Pindamonhangaba, 60-51.
``We didn't play particularly well, but I thought we played well defensively," USC coach Kevin O'Neill said. ``We played hard, but we have a lot of things to work on.''
Dewayne Dedmon, impressive in practice, scored only four points and was in foul trouble most of the game. Jio Fontan led USC with 29 points. Forward Aaron Fuller, the Iowa transfer, had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Garrett Jackson had eight points and 11 rebounds.
Three new players (freshmen Alexis Moore and Byron Wesley and junior-college transfer Greg Allen) did not play because they are waiting for summer school grades.

i know jio likes to score - and that's why we brought him - but the squad will need more balance than him scoring half the points to be successful.
