Martin Coleman returned to the starting lineup at left guard on Friday, a position manned by Marcus Martin the previous two days.
``Somebody's got to do it,'' Lane Kiffin said.
That sounds reassuring 1 week away from the first game of the season. I wonder what Barkley & the running backs are thinking....

Marcus Martin, Martin Coleman, or Martin Scorsese, ...it doesn't matter. Of all positions, O line players take the longest to develop and your BRILLIANT coaching staff(s) has/have done a piss poor job of recruiting at that position (and linebacker!). While you continue to recruit high profile receivers and running backs (many with "character issues"), they've forgotten that games are WON/LOST IN THE TRENCHES! But don't worry...it only takes 3-5 years to overhaul a WEAK OFFENSIVE LINE!
fit on, spit on, Sanction on, torgan!
Yes, CHARACTER ISSUES are a part of the CURSE!
4 & 8...at this RATE...Looks just GREAT!

You just hit a home run ! Indeed, football games are WON/LOST IN THE TRENCHES ! Tomorrow, why not reassign SO RT Kevin Graf, all 6'6" 300 lbs, to Left Guard since he has done nothing but struggle at RT. Why not relocate SENIOR LG Martin Coleman, all 6'5" 330 lbs, back to Right Tackle where he has been assigned the past THREE YEARS. JR Matt Kalil, 6'7" 295 lbs, is good to go at LT. Next, the obvious, move JR Khaled Holmes, 6'4" 300 lbs, to his RG position where he STARTED and PLAYED the ENTIRE 2010 Season.
Another obvious......according to our USC journalist, SW, BOTH or our Centers have been practicing at RG and LG, namely JR Abe Markowitz, 6'1" 285 lbs, and SO John Martinez, 6 '2" 290 lbs. Before this year, junior Abe Markowitz was our backup center and two years ago, Mr. Martinez was a 4-star center coming out of High School in the State of Utah.
Subs: At Tackle, JR's Garness and Galten, both with 2 years experience. At Guard, Redshirt Freshman Guard Patrick Kim, 6'3" 305 lbs (nice size), and Redhirt Freshman Nathan Guertler, 6'5" 265, listed as a Tackle on the 2010 roster. Martinez at center.
What am I trying to say ?? The lineup I have suggested starts or subs 10 athletes. By my scheme, only two athletes, Mr. Graf and Mr. Guertler are making a position change. There are no True Freshman are on the first or second string.
News Flash !!! Kiffin is toying with a True Freshman at Center, eight days before the start of the 2011 Season.
ThaiMex, Coach Kiffin's 2011 offensive line "recipe" is H*ll on Earth. Coach John Robinson was quoted often when he insisted " The Offensive Line on a college or pro football team is the Most Important Element on the team!". This will be a tense year. Let's hope for an OL Miracle. If not, I'd like to see the Kiffin's pack their bags.
