Scrimmage Surprises

| | Comments (11) |

Who offered some surprsing performances last night? Dion Bailey obviously with two interceptions. Dillon Baxter returned to form and looked more disciplined. D.J. Morgan and Amir Carlisle were good against mostly reserves. Brice Butler emerged from last spring's doghouse nicely. Aundrey Walker looked solid for a first scrimmage. Cody Kessler might have won the backup job if he plays anything like last night in the remaining scrimmages. Marqise Lee showed his athleticism on a touchdown catch he leaped high to grab.
And now a word about wide receiver Kyle Prater. Although Lane Kiffin criticized him, Prater made quite a few catches. The trouble last night was he never got much yardage after the catches. Also, Jessie Scroggins struggled. Anthony Brown dropped two easy interceptions.
But even with all the new faces, the one thing that stuck out was the first-team offense. The passing game simply needs to be more consistent this season.

some of you delusional SUC fans, seem to think we UCLA hate on SUC because we're envious of SUC. LMAO just what in the hell are we supposed to be envious about? is it because:

1. your school location in South Central L.A. while UCLA is located in the middle of the most expensive Real Estate in the world? NO

2. you academic ranking of #300 accroding to Forbes (UCLA is two hundred spots higher)? NO

3. USC never having won all three major awards in the three major sports, while UCLA is the only school with such honors (Heisman, Wooden, Golden spikes)? NO

4. having the third most National titles while UCLA has the most? NO

5. being the only school to ever have had a National title stripped for cheating? NO

6. being the only school to be stripped of a Heisman trophy for cheating? NO

7. being handed the harshest penalty since the death penalty to SMU 30 years ago? NO

8. for USC being the laughing stock of college football? NO

9. for USC having dozens os arrests to their players since 2001 - including 5 for RAPE - while the biggest criminal act UCLA players have committed is getting someone to assign them "handicapped placards" for the purpose of a better parking spot on campus? NO

10. for having a retarded marching band that wears sunglasses for night games and that only plays part of ONE song throughout the entire game, whether their QB just threw an Interception, or a TD? NO

So, I ask you again ladies, what is UCLA supposed to be envious of USC about?

Can someone please put BruinTurdBlob out of his misery and flush him down a toilet? His beloved coach "weasel rik" is sad and loney at the bottom of that toilet. I'm sure BruinSlob can keep him company...

CerritosLob - same post a few messages back. Come up with something original for a change. You forget a lot of misdeed your "wannabe Bruin" charges did a few years past. A selective memory - typical of Cerritos attendees.

BruinRob, in his finite wisdom, asks: "So, I ask you again ladies, what is UCLA supposed to be envious of USC about?"

Answer: USC has won 11 of 12 against UCLA in football. Scoreboard.

1. I love that our school is in the heart of a diverse city and exposes our students to real world issues while reaching out to improve the surrounding area. USC didn't cloister itself in Orange County, Westwood, or Malibu. USC is a beacon in the lives many people with not a lot of positive influences in their lives. If I chose my school solely for location I'd be at Pepperdine (another school who turned tail and ran from Central LA). Maybe your location is part of why your team is so flaccid. "No Progress Without Struggle!" -- Frederick Douglass

2. I dispute your rankings quote. USC is #23 and UCLA is #25 in the national university rankings on US News and World Report. Either way USC hasn't been funded off the backs of the California taxpayer. It's easy to selectively enroll world-class California students when the education is subsidized from money confiscated from the state taxpayer. As a private institution we've had to deal with real world economics. As your sponsor is now broke you will see how loyal your alums really are and how much more valuable the SC family and private school education really is. USC has captured many more out-of-state and international students than UCLA who select USC when there is more cost parity. UCLA will continue to see its ranking diminished as your system deals with the realities of high tuition, less research dollars, and less money to pay professors. The uneven playing field will be no more.

3. As you are on a football oriented message board, I'll put our individual trophies up against UCLA's anytime even with your basketball trophies included. USC baseball has a much tradition as anywhere in the country despite the downturn of late. So, congrats on your Wooden Awards. I wouldn't trade one Heisman for three Wooden Awards.

4. No one is arguing women's softball or volleyball. USC has more individual titles, but we don't need to search for ways to make up for our inept football team by touting other sports. Besides the difference isn't that great just cause you got to 100 first.

5. We still have the National Championship. The AP didn't take it away just cause the BCS did. Screw the NCAA and their corrupted, non-transparent COI. If anything is a joke in college football it isn't USC. It is the NCAA.

6. A school doesn't win Heisman's a player does. What Bush did was his decision and we've moved on. He was still the best player in the country and his illegal benefits didn't change anything he did on the field. UCLA only Heisman was in '67 (over forty years ago) and OJ should have won that year too (USC won the '67 game even), but the Heisman was rarely given to Juniors back then. Anybody really think Beban was a better player than Simpson?

7. And yet we are still kicking UCLA's butt on the field and in recruiting. Way to capitalize on our misfortunes.

8. See #5 and #7

9. USC is no worse in this area than any other major football program. UCLA is not a major program, so a comparison here is useless.

10. You really think the UCLA band can compete against the "The Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe." Check any major sports site ranking the best bands in college football. UCLA never appears on those lists. USC always does and is an usually in the top 3 or 5.

So, I ask you again ladies, what is UCLA supposed to be envious of USC about? Maybe our lack of delusional fans that continually post moronic comments on other teams message boards.

Well said HH. When the UC system goes broke in a few years, all the ucla folks will be going to CerritosLob alma mater. Hey Lob, who has more MEN'S NCAA titles?
How is that 86th ranked recruiting class doing this fall. ROTFLMAO.

@condom 70 - what rankings are you looking at? according to Rivals.com http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/teamrank/2012/all/all
we're #42 - not exactly lighting the world on fire, but a far cry from your claim of #86...so #42 is not too shabby at all! considering UCLA does not pay their athletes like USC does.

@Condom 70 - BTW USC is not exactly lighting the world on fire either, they are #23 in scout.com http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2012 I guess no top player considers USC the place to go anymore, who can blame them? who wants to play for a team that will eventually get the death penalty for being the biggest cheaters since SMU?
