Game Analysis

| | Comments (5) |

As custom, we turn to some game-week analysis from the venerable Gold Sheet: ``Will Sparky the Sun Devil stick his pitchfork into Lane Kiffin before kickoff? We also wonder how Kiffin's misdirection and waggle-based SC finesse attack will deal with mobile ASU "D" that's much quicker than the Syracuse stop unit that looked stuck in molasses last week at the Coliseum.''

What the...? Does anyone else here understand this "analysis"? OK, ASU has a faster defense than Syracuse. What does the comment about the pitchfork mean? Do they like ASU or USC? WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN??? ARRGGHHHH!!!

Is the trojans hang onto the ball, Barkley refrains from throwing picks and the DBs & safeties keep the ball carriers in front of them, SC has a good chance of taking home a win because ASU will experience fumbles & picks... its in their nature.

Metaphorically, the USC football team is a brain-eating zombie. Unable to go to a bowl game, their sole purpose is to ruin any teams record that lay in its path. Since style points are not necessary to influence sports media votes to clear a path to the choicest bowl games, they can afford to win ugly. A promising year for ASU will take another hit this Saturday night.

It seems the big concern should be USC's pass defense against Osweiller. Neither Wright nor Starling have done even a C grade against the pass. Why not move Drew McAllister to Strong Safety and having T.J. at Free, with our 2 CB's Robey and Harris and sub Wright or Starling on obvious run situations.
