Low Energy Sideline

A reader sent this Bob Davie quote from last night: ``I was on the USC sideline the last time they came to Sun Devil Stadium. And nothing against USC coach Lane Kiffin, but when Pete Carroll was here, the sideline was alive, and everyone was jumping around and into the game, unlike now, where it is very quiet.''
That's what happens when you are buried in your play chart the entire game.

Scott, that is an excellent point. Saban doesn't call the offensive plays. Stoops doesn't either. Nor Peterson at Boise State.

That task requires a lot of concentration and an overview. Overviews and concentration often are enhanced by sitting on high.

How does this relate to poor first-half adjustments against ASU and Syracuse? Does it affect half-time adjustments?

And, might it be related to defensive breakdowns as well?

Monte Kiffin said his son had little interest in defense, only offense. I wonder if LK is doing too much of what he prefers to do, and not enough of what needs to be done?

McKay didn't call plays and neither did Robo 1, neither of them never had a headset on. Kiffin needs to let someone else call the plays, Kiffin has enough trouble being a head coach as it is.

I think by this loss to ASU and the poor showing last year that Lane Kiffin has not shown a whole lot of progress, even though he has some great talent. His play calling is predictable i.e. Burfit interception. Kiffin has done very little to create new situations on offense on top of ignoring the defense. I'm afraid Monte has no relevance to the college game. One thing we could expect with Pete was that if the Trojans would make defensive adjustments...Saturday there were none. The swing passes and short middle zones were wide open all game.

Unless LK can improve his overall game, we're in for another poor season. You can't blame it on the sanctions.

I kept waiting for SC to intercept one of those swing passes but we always seemed just out of reach.

Dude, seriously if i see Kiffen with his stupid play chart up to his nose and whispering his failed plays during the upcoming game against U of A, I'm going to throw up all over the floor, take a fat dump on top of it, bag it, and Fed Ex it to him.
