The Orange were invited to play in the second Rose Bowl Game in 1916 (or the East-West Game, as it was known then). The invitation was declined, however, as Syracuse already had a busy road schedule, which included a visit to Los Angeles in December, 1915 to play Occidental. Brown represented the East in Pasadena instead, losing to Washington State, 14-0.
