Lane Kiffin said today that Utah offensive coordinator Norm Chow is ``very easy to work with.'' Apparently long forgotten is that Pete Carroll told me the pair did not speak to each other for several years when they were together at USC and that Kiffin helped nudged Chow out at USC.

A lot of good news on the SC football front:
1. Sammy gets a golden job opportunity to coach the secondary. Good for him;
2. Baxter is happier this week, and will certainly get some chances this season;
3. Tyler returns;
4. Kiffin apologizes to the team; he was upset at the time and people tend to turn into mouth-volcanos when that happens;
5. The tight Minnie game will work to Troy's advantage because SC knows it has to improve to have a chance not only with Utah but for a good year.
It's easy to work with guys when you don't talk to them.
Oh, and Baxter's gone. Mark it.
Sadly, I agree with spedjones.
And I agree with Lawyer John, whose positive attitude lately has been rendering my posts completely unnecessary -- which I feel great about!
Lawyer John, thanks for the positivity! Special Ed Jones, knows nothing...
Lawyer John is a rah rah, sadly, bRUIN spedjones is spot on.
Hmm, three posts by me and not one political comment. In fact Monopoly Dufus, I dare you to show me where I've spread any political tea party hate in any of my posts, unless you call me equaling Kiffin with Obama as total incompetents. Vote for the Muslim again Monopoly Dufus, maybe he can keep you government handouts coming, you loser.
Hey Jew Hater. Go spread your political agenda spew on any of those "liberal" news sites (CNN NBC CBS etc...). This is a USC football forum. Get the F outta here with your agenda! That is all...
Bubblehead Kiffin and his stupid little buddy Suckisian ( until Suck's crap team beat Goatboy last year , but that is another story ) helped Pete fire Chow ... and then made sure SC never won another national title despite surreal talent 2005-2008.
Wonder if Norm is going to bring back the two national titles he won for Pete ?
I think they were in untenable positions and that, gulp, PC was at fault. Every young buck wants to move up and you would expect when things get hairy people would show loyalty.
Chow obviously worked well enough with the two until PC decided he was going on the warpath because of the credit issue-- PC admitted as much in his book. Kiffin could be expected to side with his Sugar Daddy PC given their long relationship and PC's relationship with Monte.
Sark on the other hand is the one who did the real dirt since Chow was the guy who coached him, got him a job, and brought him along so that he could get somewhere.
Has Lane said some dumb things from time to time about Chow? Yes and Wolf mentioned every one. Do I believe the statement of Wolf about Kiff and Chow not talking for a year? Hmph, jury is out but PC sure did want to get rid of Chow even though he admitted that Chow is an excellent OC. PC has a big ego but he seems surprisingly truthful even about his own questionable actions.
At the same time, Lane while at UTenn said good things about Chow (and Chow about him) and Kiff spoke of what he learned from him as coach. It is Sark that Chow doesn't speak to and even Sark's associates have went on record to say that Sark stabbed him in the back, according to several of the tell-all books written about the PC era.
I'm not making excuses or apologies for Lane, it just doesn't seem like their relationship isn't being put into context by Wolf.
The problem is that NC isn't head coach material, so he was stuck in a spot. Like all great coaches, Pete wanted to build a coaching tree and get a pipeline going through USC. NC was a clot in the pipeline.
timmay, you are 100% correct. Love the insider information. Too bad Scott doesn't get it anymore now that his "deep throat" Martin is gone.
