Nothing lies like statistics
According to this "survey's" guesstimates, 10% of Los Angeles fans root for another local college football team other than SC or uckla. I would say that is dubious.
Also, I bet USC's fan base expanded nationally during the Carroll years. Everywhere I went SC was the targeted school to beat. So maybe the fans don't "love" the opponent, but they sure do respect them. Add them apples to your "survey."
And the teams of the year probably gain in popularity i.e. Oregon the past couple of years, Alabama 2 years ago, and Cam/Auburn last year. Perhaps OK this year.
With UCLA's reputation as an elite academic institution, as well as the association with the basketball team being the greatest in college sports history, I'd say the UCLA count in this survey is low.
And my guess is the rats have started jumping off the sinking ship and SUC bandwagon gangbanger support has also eroded back to the Raiders, likely resulting in South Central JC being overrated in this study. Pretty soon you guys will be back to basically just having your "bros" from Newport rooting for you.
ucla dynasty you forgot women's gymnastics for your splendid athletic reputation. No baseball titles, 1/2 of a football title back in 1954 or so which will continue this season. Marvelous turnout for Texas last Saturday which is probably closer to the real fan base. Maybe you have not noticed that THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA has moved ahead of Westwood Tech in the academic rankings.
Yes, when I'm deciding which team to root for, I immediately reach for the US News collegiate rankings. Also explains why Tennessee women's basketball pushes Tennessee to the top of the list. Speaking of rats jumping off of sinking ships, I suspect UCLA had more fans in the Terry Donohue days.

I find it extremely hard to believe that Oregon State has more fans nationally than Stanford does.
Stanford has a small alumni base. And when it comes to football, the bay area has 2 pro teams for fans to root for.
