About The Attendance
Yesterday's attendance of 63,707 was the lowest of the season and lowest since 2002. There should be bigger crowds when Stanford and UCLA come to the Coliseum. But I don't know if the USC-UCLA game is going to be the usual crowd with neither program generating a lot of enthusiasm at the moment.
When I spoke to Lane Kiffin about this, he pointed out the stats I mentioned in my story Friday that attendance is more in line with what USC drew in the 1960's-90's. Or before Pete Carroll.
Do you agree with Kiffin that the Carroll era just might be an anomaly that is never duplicated?
The economy is horrible everywhere but they pack them in in the SEC and Big 12 and Big 10 (12). USC is no longer the "in" place to be, their coach has all the enthusiasm of wet dog crap and the program is going to struggle for this decade, get used to 60,000 or less for the next 6-8 years or more.

Kiffin is about as exciting as wet dog crap. Attendance will be at a all-time low with this moron coaching. When a good coach is here , 90,000 will fill the Coli again. Kiffin sucks , and so does his senile old man.
I agree Kiffin now has a problem of telling his father he's not doing the job being defensive coordinator. Now the offense and probably Kiffin too knows they have to keep scoring points up to the end of the game. Kiffin said it himself after the game Saturday, our defense couldn't even force a field goal!
Can I make a suggestion? Call Penn State and ask if they would take a defensive coordinator in his 80s to go along with the head coach?

We are back with the 'fair weather fans' we had before PC. But, given the sanctions, and no post-season, it is hard to generate excitement, especially the players. I truly believe if we were not precluded from post-season, the enthusiasm level, winning ratio and attendance would be close to what it was before. I do fault Kiffin for not maintaining the upbeat atmosphere that PC made so successful. He could do more. But, all things go in cycles. This is a great program at USC, we will build it back up again soon.
