Lane Kiffin watched a tape of the game on the plane ride back to Los Angeles with quarterback Matt Barkley, wide receiver Robert Woods and center Khaled Holmes.
“They are very young kids that are professionals,” Kiffin said. “I walked by (freshman offensive guard) Marcus Martin and he was asleep. They don’t understand the magnitude of what they did.”

It’s impossible to measure heart, passion, determination, etc., but the last 2 recruiting classes seem to be cut from a different cloth vs. some of the players that were recruited by Brennan Carroll. Fortunately, most of those players that lived off their predecessor’s fruits of labor have left the program.

  4. Above Guy…Kiffen and Orgeron are great recruiters, but Barkley, Woods, and Holmes committed to the Carroll regime.

  7. What? I wasn’t putting down the present staff, I was defending the previous staffs recruiting. Seems the guy at the top was questioning Carroll’s recruit’s character. So some malcontents transferred. It happens at most schools, but the free get-out-of-jail free card hurt. Eighty percent of the starters on this team committed to Carroll.

    This is what I wonder about:

    MB has always presented himself as a straight shooter, go on missions to help kids I just love being the QB at USC and having fun and getting an education.

    Now, he has everything he says he loves on the table waiting for him. Starting job as USC QB. Possible heisman trophy, NC for USC, Pac 12 championship for USC, more education, etc. Be a huge college football star, stay another year at USC to maybe get bigger and stronger for the NFL and gain more experience..

    jump to the NFL and grab the $$$$$$$$$$$$

  9. MB7 will be back. There is no doubt about it. I thought the same of Sanchez but the circumstances were severely different. For now, BEAT THE bRuins! FIGHT ON!

    Ps. If I’m wrong, he deserves nothing but the best, and the Trojan Family will always appreciate what he did during tough times. Heisman! Heisman! Heisman!
