No Love

It sometimes only seems like everything has a connection to USC. Arizona State's sloppy coaching search is led by Sun Devils A.D. Lisa Love, who was an administrator at USC before getting the job.
Love hired Dennis Erickson. I'm convinced she did it because USC offered the job to Erickson before it hired Pete Carroll and she had no experience hiring a football coach. Now, she's been on a long, unhappy search to replace Erickson. The latest name to emerge is Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. So it might turn out well for the Sun Devils, if not the Utes.
But if Whittingham is not hired and she hires an assistant coach, it could turn out ugly for fans hoping for an established candidate.

I live in Arizona and ASU and UCLA searches were very similar. Both should have fired their coaches earlier to get a jump like UofA did. Both should have considered Mike Leach.
Lisa Love is on thin ice, and many are now speculating that Steve Paterson is getting more power and Love will be out soon. ASU should have a better football program than UofA, but it looks like UofA is in a better situation going forward. Matt Scott, who redshirted this year so he could start after Foles leaves, is a perfect fit for Rich Rod's system. The one thing Erickson was doing was recruiting well. It'll be interesting if UofA recruits better than ASU this year.
Why is this information out about Whittingham. If they don't get him, Love is screwed.

Either Gruden brother would fit nicely.

Don't be surprised if Robin Pflugrad is hired as HC. He's the HC at Montana, where they won their first playoff game. He was a longtime assistant at ASU under Bruce Snyder, and was very popular. He then was an assistant at Oregon before becoming the HC at Montana. His son was very popular the last couple of years as a WR for ASU. This would be a very popular selection among the disenchanted ex-players.

As a recent resident of Utah and watching Utah weekly, old Kyle would be perfect for ASU, it would allow the U of Utah to actually hire a coach how has a clue and would stop recruiting local kids with no speed and marginal ability, I would hope that if Clueless Kyle did leave, that the U would hire Belotti and give USC a run for it's money because ASU sure won't with Clueless Kyle at the helm.

Crap, Clueless Kyle ain't going anywhere

Utah football coach Kyle Whittingham has been given a raise, bumping his salary from $1.7 million per year to $2 million. Liz Abel, senior associate athletic director, acknowledged that Whittingham and athletic director Chris Hill signed an agreement for the increase in a meeting approximately two weeks ago.

Complete details won’t be made public, however, until the paperwork clears the university’s legal department.
