Too Little, Too Late
Matt Barkley's Heisman bid was probably done in by its late start. Remember that as late as Nov. 18th, the week following the Washington game, Barkley was only 11th in a poll of 48 Heisman voters by the web site, StiffArmTrophy.com.
Barkley's Heisman surge really came against Oregon on Nov. 19th which is why USC officials seemed to be caught flat-footed with a hastily arranged video promoting him.
If USC had done some Heisman promotion in October/early November, it would have been a lot easier for Barkley to make his jump toward the top five.
The only thing to offset the late Heisman campaign would be an appearance in the Pac-12 title game last weekend. So thank the NCAA for that one.

Easy in hindsight, Wolf. Had Barkley been hyped up for the Heisman too soon, maybe the expectations and pressure to live up becomes too much and he doesn't perform as well. Luck sure didn't live up to expectations throughout the entire season. Kinda like Fucla didn't live up to expectations of playing in the championship game LOL.

Let's face it...UCLA had a horrible year made worse by firing your coach when you guys did. CRN was a good guy just not an impact coach. When he was hired I thought, "Oh man this could be bad for us" but it wasn't.
I read the Terry Donahue article and he hit the nail on the head...UCLA needs a tier one QB (hasn't had one since Cabe McNown) and until they get one there will be little chance to turn the program around. I agree, CRN never had the consistent firepower under center to make the offense go and he paid for it.
But if I can say one thing...lose the UCLA in the championship game verbiage. Really you guys played hard but the end result was the same...a loss. Do the honorable thing and let it go, it might build your credibility on this site.

Gnossos...I am not new to the site and I have read earlier where some have said that he is a Trojan fan and I agree that might be true. He is a shit disturber but unfortunately it is for all the wrong reasons.
The bottom line is that UCLA is still a bad football program being embarrassed everyday now with the fact that no one really wants the HC job.

Not many of you really expected the most coveted trophy in college football would be given to a player who plays for a program bombarded by NCAA sanctions, did you? Come on, it's a common sense. It wouldn't be politically correct to do so, would it? Even next year, when the bowl ban would be over, the righteous folks in the fraternity might pause a bit before crowning Barkley with that award, for USC football program is THE most cursed one at the moment. Yep, they've put us in football jail for several years, so to speak. lol.
