What A Production

| | Comments (43) |

Matt Barkley's always been a humble guy despite his position at USC. And that is what made today's bloated press conference totally out of order for him (or anyone else).
The USC band, song girls and cheering fans were an over-the-top presentation for someone who likes to emphasize his team first. And then there were the Heisman Trophies, without their protective cases, as if to say Barkley would win the next one.
``I didn't want that,'' Barkley said. ``That's not me.''
Even a high-level USC administrator was disappointed at the pompous atmosphere for what was supposed to be a press conference.
On the other hand, at least Barkley had a podium. Unlike Mark Sanchez.

The only thing I ever liked about Barkley was his humbleness, but Wolf you hit the nail right on the head, I was surprised that he called a press conference to a do something he normally does, tweet.

I saw the news about Barkley staying just after 1pm, and then I went out with my co-workers for a Christmas lunch for just a couple of hours, and now I just got back and checked this blog -- and already Wolf has gone negative on this?!!

Classic for BruinRob to rip Barkley when his own UCLA quarterback was suspended from the team this week. Besides it's USC's athletic department that calls a press conference, not Barkley, you schmuck!

USC Anteater Author Profile Page said:

Yeah, he really looked like he was having a terrible time. I bet he was thinking, "this is really going to upset the Wolfman and a random UGLA troll." Fight on Matt, and thanks. Lane Kiffin should call Tennessee and ask someone over there how to make a "Thanks Matt" billboard like their "Thanks Payton" billboard of a few years ago. I'm sure they'd like to help.

Hey Wolf, was Nikias there?

A GREAT day for SC and college football!

Thank you Barkley. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you!

TrojanPete Author Profile Page said:

As Barkley mentioned, the press conference wasn't his idea. Had he made the decision to go pro, they most likely wouldn't have made it as big of a deal. Would they bring out the Heismans for somebody who is leaving? No. But right now, he is the #1 candidate for the trophy next year. This isn't just about Barkley--the university and its community wanted to celebrate. Don't blame Barkley if you are upset about the celebratory nature of the press conference. This is a great day.

Hey Cerritoslob, I just saw your earlier post and I swear you are getting dumber by the minute. First you call me a girl, then you say that I'm a gay boy. Which one is it? Why is it that you are always referencing homosexual activities? How do you know about all of these activities that you are constantly mentioning? Are you a man, LOL, of experience in this arena? It sounds like you are. No wonder you're in such a hurry to get up to San Francisco for the Mac-N-Cheese Bowl. By the way, when is Prince going to have his press conference? Oh, thats right. FUCLA QB's don't go to the NFL, and don't tell me about Matt Moore. He got ran out of FUCLA and went to Oregon State.

jack, SlobDusky is a sour old man who's kids are nothing, his old lady, which probably divorced him and was not in an accident like he want everyone to believe, and he's a total loser. So don't worry about what he says about you. Or SC for that matter. He's in love with USC Football.

So who's decision at the school was it? On the flip side, it was kind of nice to have some festivity since SC isn't bowling. And I love that Barkley said the the probation was unfair.

LAWYER JOHN Author Profile Page said:

I had to listen to Barkley's speech, holding my breath, and when he said he had consulted with others and realized he was ready for the pros, my heart sunk. But then practically in the same breath, he said he was returning to SC, and I swear, I got goose bumps from my head to my toes.

@Jackie - "gay boy" or "girl" what's the difference? you are a gay "boy" because you haven't had the sex change yet...you are a girl, because that's how you act, and what you aspire to be. When NOBS and you get together, you are the girl...when NOBS and BocoH get together NOBS is the girl and when How Does, joins you guys you are ALL girls...does that explain it pretty good, little girl?

Have you changed your your soggy tampon yet? it's been a little rough this month for you eh? try some dark chocolate - and I don't mean Tyrone - I was referring to Seas chocolates, you pervert!

Like I said before, Cerritoslob you are getting dumber by the minute. It's See's Candy not Seas chocolates. Your fat ass should know this, because I'm sure you have engulfed enough chocolate during your sorry ass life. Let me guess, you're still polishing off Halloween candy from this year, aren't you?
As far as having a tough week, take a look in the mirror. On second thought, don't. I'm sure you've broken enough mirrors with your horrific looks. Your pansy ass Bruins have had players declared ineligible, players getting suspended on purpose so they don't have to play in the Mac-N-Cheese Bowl, you loose a key recruit to SC, and now Barkley is coming back to light your ass up again next year. Keep coming back to this blog, because we all know your a glutton, no pun intended, for punishment.

Jackie, I would be willing to bet 100grand that if USC WOULD BE playing in a Bowl they would have more than just two players academically ineligible...second thought maybe not, considering the classes USC players take, such as ball-room dancing or basket-weaving, that would be pretty hard to flunk...then you got L.A. Trade Tech, giving everyone "A"s without attending classes...so yeah, that definitely would not happen with a USC team.

As for Brehaut our second string QB suspended for breaking team rules, well, I will say that would NEVER happen at USC either, because at USC it's the prisoners that run the asylum...it's always been like that, and will always be like that...hence no trOJan ever kicked off the team for getting arrested, no matter what the arrest was for - such as 6 players on the USC rosters during the PC era arrested for RAPE - and none were dismissed, one left voluntarily because he felt so humiliated and embarrassed Eric Wright to UNLV, even then Pete Carroll and Mike Garrett made it so difficult for him to leave that eventually Wright went to the Chancellor for HIS approval...I got ammo Jackie, let me know if you want me to unleash it on you, so it's best to keep your pie-hole shut, girl.

What? we lost a key recruit to USC? you mean that awesome 3-star "white" Defensive End that is 6'3" 235lbs JUCO transfer? key recruit?? what are you smoking Jackie? from what I heard, UCLA told him that his scholarship would be given to a 4-start Safety Marcus Rios, Rios accepted, and now USC will waste a scholarship on a former UCLA recruit, just to have one up on us, BUAHAHAHAHA congratulations, considering you're 10 scholies short from the usual, I couldn't be happier. When we land Arik Armastaed and steal Jordan Simmons, or land Ellis McCarthy, then we UCLA fans will ride you like a pony.

USC 50 - UCLA 0 - game was pure comedy, we just clowned all over you guys.

The best parts about your posts is that your insults are actually compliments. Yes, our players take Basket Weaving or Ballroom Dancing. To me, that's awesome. Another benefit of 'SC. You hate this because you wish your players got this type of treatment.

I wouldnt expect You to understand understand, you aren't part of the club.

Like @Trojanfan said you are the definition of pure envy.

trOJanFan - who the f*** cares if Barkley is coming back, you delusional one, you act as if Barkley is anywhere near the class of Luck, or Robert Griffin...the reason Barkley didn't leave is because he's afraid to compete with the big boys...and probably after noticing that not a single USC QB has done shit in the NFL...he's pretty smart for staying, who would want to spend his career holding a clipboard? at 6'2" he's considered a midget in the NFL.

December 22, 2011 8:20 PM

.....where to start....

1. Statistically, Barkley was better than Luck and played as well as him head-to-head 2 years in a row.
2. Afraid to compete with the big boys? He took on Ohio State at the Horseshoe as a true freshman; I don't think fear is an issue for him.
3. Pretty sure there are currently 3 starting QBs in the NFL from USC right now. How many from UCLA? oh, you're just judging SC on a tougher scale? Good, that's how it should be, glad you recognize that.
4. Being 6'2" won't hurt Barkley. Ask Drew Brees, who at 6'0", is a pro bowler.. has won a super bowl.. and is about to break Dan Marino's single-season passing record.
5. Oh yeah, almost forgot, ENVY ON! You, Bucket & ThaiMux (same person, different usernames) can't stand the hype and anticipation SC fans have for their team because YOURS IS TRASH. WE LOVE IT!

Fight on!

Ps. 50-0

Why would anyone badmouth MB. I doubt he set up the press conference, not his style. He had a short statement, had a little fun with it, and now is doing what the rest of us should be doing, centering on Christmas, family and friends.

Merry Christmas to all you bums, even C-buck and BlowinRob.

Breaking NEWS for BROinRob... Kevin Prince is forgoing his entry on the Sparkletts Driving Team to stay at UCLA for One More Year...

BruinRob Author Profile Page said:

@Trojan in Seattle - USC equals class on and off the field?? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read...unless of course you consider 6 players arrested for RAPE on Pete Carroll teams...and about a dozen other arrests for sale possession of drugs with intent to sell....or possession of fire arms....or assault & battery arrests...or holding up liquor stores ...or spitting on females in one place, then heading to another place and groping another and then go on national television and tell everyone how USC is at paying their players"USC breaks bread for the players". You see, to THIS is class because this is ALL you've ever know as a USC fan, I got news for you it's called being thugs, ghetto, savages, win at all costs...and I didn't even mention incidents that occurred with players once they left USC, there is not enough time in the day to do that.

"CLASS ON AND OFF THE FIELD" that is the funniest thing ever, I will assume yih hate USC and were dying for this post...true?

BruinRob Author Profile Page said:

@Inside - Kevin Prince could probably buy Sparklett's Corporation. He comes from very wealthy family living close to campus in the city of Brentwood. Prince is about ten times tougher than Barkley, he took hits during the season that would put Barkley in a wheelchair for life.

it takes a real idiot to post something like that...

Here is one for you to chew on, 8 sacks in a season vs 8 in one half....ouch!!!!

There is no need to take hits when the oline is doing their job

Plus, after all those 'hits' is Prince's value to the NFL inproved??? NO, he's damaged goods. USED up in a 6-7 season. What a waste....
