Who Else?

| | Comments (24) |

With linebacker Scott Starr and offensive tackle Chad Wheeler also signing today, USC's got 1-2 scholarships left for the mid-year expection. Who else will the Trojans sign?
Defensive lineman Devante Wilson, who did not attend classes in the fall, will enroll in the spring. Perhaps the last one will be Saddleback College offensive lineman Jake Long, if he can figure out a way to get his academics settled to enroll in January.

What did the season get over a few weeks ago and I am already salivating for Spring practice. Today was a huge EE haul (and 2 more openings to fill) and with TJ coming back I get the shivers just thinking about next season.
Now not to give the Bruins a lot to talk about but what did SC not being in a bowl game this year add to the decommits from UCLA and Oklahoma (that one is HUGE!)and the coaches ability to hit the road early and hard to get these guys.
SC will be a force next year. Fight on!

Bob, you're an eternal optimist, are you?

sdbob Author Profile Page said:

Well when you root for a team that actually shows up for practice and actually wins more games than they lose, doesn't have multiple starters ineligible for a bowl game...well hell yes BruinRob I am an optimist in the best way.
I visit the Bruin blog a bit and I can tell you that even the Bruin fans wonder who is running the asylum these days. There's a new sheriff in town in a few weeks and I expect Mr Mora will get the ship of state righted.
Look, it is to our advantage to have both of our programs at the top of their game and noticed nationwide. Remember the games of the '60s, I do and I can tell you... win or lose each team knew they were in a battle every year.
I'm an old guy and I want those types of games back. Guess I am an emotional simp too but I have memories of OJ, Beban, Jimmy Raye, John McKay, Haden, Skip Hicks, Marinovich,, etc. Those were good games and good days to remember.
If we get back to where the SC/UCLA means all the marbles then we really will be where we need to be as fans.

Hah... Yeah, right. Jake Long would really need to figure out his academics, eligibility, and NFL season with the Dolphins by January... So perhaps you mean Kyle Long, the recent Oregon commitment. Or maybe you just don't really know what you're writing about.

Bob, you are right, USC does NOT have multiple players ineligible for their Bowl game because they're NOT going a Bowl game...and besides, if even if USC would be going to a Bowl game, chances are they would have ZERO players ineligible, cosidering the classed they take...I mean, if they can't pass ball-room dancing or basket-weaving that would be ridiculous, don't you think? (I'M TEASING).

I believe Jim Mora will get thing running the right way, I've never understood that wall hopping tradition myself.

My memories go back to Pat Haden to J.K. McKay and Mark Harmon handing the ball off to James McCallister and Kermit Johnson and after Harmon left John Sciarra the QB who actually lived with coach John McKay and his family while he was attending Bishop Amat H.S. - did you know that?

Who could forget, USC's greats, Richard Wood was an animal on defense, Ricky Bell was a stud...and the McNeil brothers one at SC and one at UCLA.

We keep hearing that this is the guy who will change things at Ruinville andt that line is getting really old. Kind of like Slandusky saying " trust me"
You guys will always be in powder blue and always be our little bitch. Just except it and move on. Don't worry I heard you guys have a real great women's softball team next year.

Scott,

I would of thought that you would of been more on top of the Morgan Breslin situation, being that it was a UCLA recruit that USC stole from UCLA. As Mora was contacting our recruits, you had no idea Kiffin decided to steal one of Mora's Recruits.

Kiffin laughs at you, and you cover USC....you are not an insider....the only insider info you get is from Rivals. Its pathetic to have you covering USC....you are a joke. You clearly know nothing about Football even though you cover the team. How could you not rank SC at all early on and then have them Ranked in the top 10 at the end of the season? You clearly have some major issues in deciphering what a good football team is. You had no idea what Kiffin was building and I think you have a personal problem with Lane. I hope the Daily News shows you the door. Boise State # 1...what?? SC smokes Boise by 2 touchdowns easily.

THANK YOU! I couldn't agree more! I'm a Die hard Bruin Fan but most of all I'm an LA fan! LA deserves the great rivalry this once was. LA is a huge market and no reason we can't have 2 great teams. It would be great for the PAC in general. The west doesn't get much love as it is. If the Rivalry was strong as before the Cali kids ( the most talented) would all stay home! I'm not here to talk shit about my hated rivals. SC and the people at top like the AD get it! The clown that is DG doesn't. The gap between both schools is bigger than it should ever be and it saddens me. Sc is doing shit right, good for you! I hope Ucla and the people in charge open their eyes soon!

Get this, trojans. Ol' BruinRob told SC supporter BE REAL to stop possting on his ucla blog. Well, rob, I will instruct my good friend BE REAL to do that if you will mutually agree to ship off from the SC blog. What's that you say, you cannot leave us.

I too know something about SC-ucla history because I am an avid reader i.e. there is a book I have discussing this rivalry.

Did you know that ucla owned SC in the '50s, but then John McKay was hired, upset ucla in his early years, and then went on to be undefeated and win his first of 4 national championships in 1962.

SC owned ucla after this until the 1980s, which was a pretty even decade. The 90's ucla owned SC, and after 1999, well, as they say, the rest is history

LMAO!!! What are these drunkards barking about?! Rivalry? What rivalry? It's a CROSS TOWN kind, NOT the REAL one. OK, let's imagine USC and fUCLA were NOT located in the same city. Would there be anything close to a rivalry if you considered the achievement and tradition of the two programs. No. It's obvious fUCLA and bRUINS should be REAL thankful and HONORED to share the same city with us Trojans. Understood?

C'mon Wolf, no news on Barkley making his announcement today at 1PDT??? I thought you were an "insider".

NOBS Author Profile Page said:

1PM- MB7, will he stay or will he go?

I think he will stay.

If he does go, I wish him the best. However, he will go down in SC Football history as an excellent player with really no legacy. Hate to say it, but Paul McDonald said it all: it's the Rings. Hardly anyone remembers the records set, but everybody remembers the QBs that WON the National Championship or Heisman Trophy.....and that will include Sanchez.

Rookie mistake Wolf, so rookie.

Barkley is announcing his decision today at 1pm at Heritage Hall. Scott "inside usc" Wolf should get the memo by sometime next week, and will make a post stating that "quarterback Matt Barkley is expected to make an announcement regarding his future." Wolf's motto is "You heard it here last!"

I like BruinRob's memories! There was a golden age back then, and even though every 'SC defeat crushed me, I have to admit it was a lot better when both teams had talent to spare.

The atmosphere in the Coliseum at the Afholter catch in '87 or the Bruins' goal line stand and interception in '93 (which I thought I would NEVER get over) is a million miles from whatever was felt that night on November 26th.

Hey guys look at this thread...it is actually two different camps talking about their teams not so much to the detriment of the other team. Wow...an epiphany, I guess. This is what this blog is supposed to be about and not talking bad about someone's mother or racial profile. I am really enjoying the memories of some of the newer games that have been played. I go back to the Rose Bowl 1963, Bethard and Bedsole and Van der Kellen. The day I became a life long Trojan fan. Never attended USC but my love for their football team transcends any units earned in class. And I still believe a strong UCLA program makes an even stronger SC one and vice versa. Fight on!
