Say What?

The Chicago Bears hired Jeremy Bates today as quarterbacks coach. Now it might just seem like a terrible hire on the surface. But there is a method to this madness. Bates was Jay Cutler's ``guy'' in Denver. The Bears want Cutler to be happy. So they hired Bates as QB coach. It's not like he will get to call plays or anything.
UPDATED: I forgot to warn Chicago staff to prepare for the arrival of Mr. Coffee, my nickname for Bates, who demanded three cups of coffee (not one, not two, not four) before every game, which forced USC to take a coffee maker on road trips.

Looks like Wolf got scooped again on Gilmore. Can't wait to hear his snarky take on it tomorrow. Let me guess, THE WORLD IS CRUMBLING!

He doesn't like to offend other schools by trying to hire one of their coaches??? that's a bunch of bullshit, he tried awfully hard to hire Norm Chow from UCLA when he got the SUC gig.

He didn't try hiring Norm Chow. That was Mike Garrett's idea and Kiffin didn't exactly put a lot of effort into it as it would've meant he would have to give some control over the offense to Chow.

Trojan Pete is right, Lane wasn't exactly overjoyed with the idea of Norm running the offense.

Why would he want Chow? Look at the great job he did for the bruins!

DId anyone else notice how his play calling just got worse late in the game? Maybe young Jeremy should have paced himself a little with the caffeine. Or just set up a cot and taken a nap in the 3rd quarter so he could be ready for crunch time.
